Please forgive me if this question is ridiculous or stupid (I searched and couldn't find anything). I have a '21 GLC43 ordered that includes the AMG Night Package and Driver Assistance Package (Distronic, etc). But I'd also like to black out the grill, star and badging. I've many others in this forum that have done this.

The badging appears easy. For the AMG vertical grill, I've seen some black ones sold on Amazon and Ebay and even partially blacked stars. Trouble is, I've also been told that because the grill and star are part of the Distronic and camera sensor systems, if you remove them, the vehicle won't start unless you take it to a dealer and have them recalibrate the sensors at a cost of $300 (I'm in the US).

Does anybody know anything about this or have any info?

Same here 21 GLC43, did the grill with good 'ol plastic coat about a month ago. Took several 300 mile + trips and all is still in tack. The badges are available on eBay. Did the three on the back and the two sides.

I had mine vinyl wrapped and my next-door neighbor had his painted. No issues with any sensors or distronics but we have 2019 VERSION.

Emblems are all from eBay.

Got my grill vinyl wrapped as well as the chrome on my door handles, and then they did a STEK dark wrap on my star due to not wanting it to mess with the driving sensors. All in was about $500, and loving the contrast on the white car. Definitely recommend it, and I am sure you could get it done for less but went to a place I absolutely trust and have had no issues with it at all.

This looks like my car, but I have the factory 'prison cell bar' look. I am very interested in the black vinyl wrap. I have absolutely no experience with this material. Two questions (open to anybody):

1) Is it durable on the front?
2) I assume they removed the grill?; any issue with getting it back together in working order?

Smoke20 few answers to your questions...

1 - Its been on since January and I've done a few longer road trips around SoCal and out to the desert, no issues at all.
2 - If you are doing a wrap, no need to remove the grill or anything else. It was a vinyl wrap on the bars, and then a darker film on the star for me as I have the parking and driving sensors in there and didn't want it to get too messed up.

Mine has 20,000 miles since the wrap and the front star needs a touch up but everything else is still looking good.

The didn't take the grill off even though, it is very easy to take off.

Not a GLC driver here but a C43 driver instead. I have some matte black badges on order. I see the star trunk emblem is black on your car. Love the look! I am assuming that the emblem is the backup camera and function similar to the C43, where is opens slightly to reveal a camera for backup purposes. I am curious what procedures you used to remove the trunk camera emblem? Is it attached with tape or is it clipped in? Do you have another suggestion for removal and application? BTW beautiful car! And the reflection of the garage opener light in the windshield at first glance makes me think the Stig is at the wheel. Thanks!

I was uncomfortable removing that because of the camera so I just had them wrap it.

Just replaced the rear emblem on my c63s and it is the exact same. The cover slides off easily and you can pull the emblem grommets off and then the emblem off pretty easily and swap in an all black one!
