DIY Rear Star Emblem Removal on Coupe
I spent hours trying to find a DIY on how to remove the rear badge/ backup camera cover on specifically the coupe, without luck. I eventually figured it out on my own and wanted to share this DIY for others knowledge.
Step 1: open rear backup camera by using the settings menu in command. You need to leave the car ignition on for the emblem to stay open.
step 2: while looking from either side profile of the open camera look behind and you will see where the emblem meets the camera housing, there are two "C" shaped indentations. You simply depress because the indentations (one on one side and one on the other) and that releases the emblem so you can slide it up and off the camera housing.
step 3: now you are left with a circular disc with the Chrome 3 pointed star attached to it. If you want to remove the chrome star there are two things you have to do. 1. you have to remove the three white plastic stoppers from behind the disc. There are three prongs which hold the star in. 2. Mercedes also put thin double sided tape around the outside of the star which can be difficult to remove. I started first by removing the three plastic stoppers and pushed the star partially up in the center. I then used a razor blade to slowly slide across the perimeter of three pointed star and the housing it sits in to cut the double sided tape all the way around. After that it will come free.
Note: you do need to use quite a bit of force to squeeze them in. I used a trim removal tool to push on the release indentations.
Pictures to follow...
