FINALLY! GLC 63 SUV gets some respect for 2022!

Always hated that MBUSA did not offer the GLC 63 'S' version SUV in the US. S version only available in the Coupe. Didn't understand why Canada, Australia and other smaller markets got the S version for the GLC 63 SUV and the US did not? For the last year of this chassis (2022) the SUV will finally be available in both the S version and the non S version:

Yesterday I cancelled my 2021 GLC63 SUV order -- August build -- and dealer has me first on the list for a 2022 GLC 63S SUV. He doesn't have build sheets or pricing yet, but that should come soon.

Nice! Well, glad I've been indecisive on my next vehicle...looks like I might just be back in a GLC, with the "big boy" motor + (S version). Off to see if there's a DOG available yet.

Nice model. Will the GLC remain a "GLC" on a new chassis in 2023? Or will it be the GLD or ...?

Doubt it. There is no D-Class sedan.

"GLD" was a poor attempt at humor. Will MB continue with the GLC as its own stand-alone chassis?

LOL. I'm old so I don't know its typed humor without a smiley face or this

I believe it remain it's own stand-alone chassis. No need to change as it's Mercedes biggest seller.

Little know fact - the GLC is actually built of the E-Class sedan chassis. Most assume it's built of the C-Class.

No sure if you have seen this interesting but disheartening:

Second-Generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC Looks Larger Than Predecessor

24 Feb 2021, 20:55 UTC ·
by Alex Oagana
Home > News > Car Profile
Unveiled back in 2015, the first and so far the only generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC is getting a bit long in the tooth, despite a mid-cycle facelift improving it in almost every way a little over a year ago.
26 photos

The compact crossover/SUV replaced the well-received and much more angular GLK at a time when Mercedes-Benz was switching to the more ‘soapy’ design theme it currently has, and the GLC fitted right in.

Based on the C-Class, like the ‘C’ in its name suggests, the GLC rapidly became one of the most coveted models in its segment, battling for market share with more established rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q5, and Volvo XC60.

With the W206 generation of the C-Class unveiled this week, Mercedes-Benz has recently started to test pre-production prototypes of the second GLC ever, even though we are still over a year away from its official unveiling.

Currently enjoying the snow of the most northern parts of Sweden, the highly camouflaged model caught by spy photographers looks like it has grown in just about every direction compared to its predecessor.

We don’t have a point of reference, but the car looks slightly wider, longer, and with a more elongated wheelbase. If our guesses are correct, this should translate into a much roomier cabin and a slightly larger luggage compartment as well.

That said, the most talked-about feature about the new GLC’s interior will likely be the center console. It will no longer feature analog buttons and switches but a portrait-style touchscreen with haptic feedback, borrowed from its C-Class brother.

Engine-wise, an array of turbocharged four-cylinders will make up the entire lineup, all of them featuring some form of electrification like mild-hybrid, full hybrid, or plug-in hybrid. The mighty GLC 63 will sadly lose its thunderous V8 and get a four-cylinder as well but with a lot more power thanks to F1-derived hybrid technology.

Finally! No idea why we didn't get this from the start, especially since Canada did get it (along with the beautiful C43 and E53 estate).

The GLB with a third row is probably taking some customers from the GLC. Making the 2023 GLC larger makes sense from that point of view, and will probably make it noticeably larger than the X3 and Macan. I'm not sure how many people cross shop the GLC43 against the Macan, but base GLC vs base X3 is a common comparison.

Macan is also due for a new platform in the 2022-2023 time frame. Should be interesting.

Sadly Porsche seems to be letting the current ICE Macan die slowly rather than receive a new platform/full update. Instead it will be receiving yet another refresh, this time removing all physical controls in favor of the touch panel of the Cayenne and Panamera. The new EV Macan (which was previewed during a release of unseen Porsche concepts) will essentially be sold as the new Macan with the ICE Macan having a 3-year shelf life alongside its EV variant, and it looks to be even smaller with "coupe-like" design features and a heavily raked roof. Audi is likely to take a similar approach with the ICE A6 being sold alongside the new A6 E-Tron (which was shown in concept form recently) and the ICE variant eventually being phased out.

I actually did cross shop the GLC43 with a Macan(6 cyl) 2020/2021. Price was a big factor $70K VS $90K for as similar cars as I could build. Drove both extensively, MaCan was a better drive, more space in the rear, ride was better with the 20" wheels. Roads in Tucson are the worst, so run flat and low profile are killers. (Had to replace two tires on a CLS 550 with low profile's because of potholes )

Anybody have or seen the DOG (Dealer Order Guide) for the 2022 yet? Usually out by now, but like everything else, the plandemic may have pushed it.

Nothing from the dealer yet. Still waiting to order. He did say the regular GLC models will arrive in Q1 and AMG models will not arrive until Q2. But he also told me that all new models have EQ boost, which I know is not true.

My dealer contacted me today and said the order banks for the 2022 GLC models will open on or about 5/25/21. So the Dealer Order Guide and Quick Reference Guide should be available at that time.
