Just got this recall for my GLC.
Covers misfire during cold starts. Will require ECU software update.
The recall says that MB is working to obtain replacement parts.
"Once we have the required parts, we will contact you again".
What parts this is a software update?
I did have an engine misfire when I got the car new but it was attributed to faulty injectors and 3 were changed in 2019.
Here is a scan of the recall.
Check engine light came on yesterday.
Made an appointment for service with a dealer in 10 days.
I wonder CEL came on because of the engine misfire.
Ther recall has not been done on my car yet.
I was waiting for MB instructions since the 21st of June.
Update on the visit to MB dealer
The dealer was not aware of the recall for the "Misfire due to ECU software malfunction".
They told me that they can't do anything until they get the new software from MB.
In a meantime, they changed the sparkplug number 1 and 6 to eliminate the CEL.
No 1 and 6 are the same cylinders that MB changed fuel injectors 2 years ago.
I have only put on 6 K miles since then on my car.
I do have my doubts if this will permanently solve the misfire problem.
Just yesterday I have received MB letter advising me that there is a 15 years /242,000 km ignition coil warranty extension.
The reason being is that the ignition coil might not meet the specification that may lead to misfiring on the affected cylinder.
I placed a call with my dealer to find out if they checked coils for misfiring during last week's service.
Will keep you guys informed about this continuing saga.
