Maintenance Booklet

Hello -

My kids, their stuff and their friends keep growing (surprise!), so I need a bigger vehicle (currently in a Chevy SS). What’s bigger and goes fast? An AMG GLC (torn between 43 and 63 currently). I’ve got a neighbor who is a car guy and his wife has a GLC 300, so I mentioned that I was interested in the AMG versions. He gave me a pretty strong warning about the cost of maintenance.

I have googled the maintenance schedule without any luck. The closest I get is the owners manual which references a “Maintenance Booklet”. I’ve also searched this forum, but get a million results that don’t seem to get me there.

Can anyone please provide a link and/or insight? I just want to know what I am potentially in for prior to committing.

Thanks in advance!

If you're driving 10k - 12k miles per year, expect to alternate "A" and "B" service visits each year. This means odd years will be ~$450 with even years ~$750 for the maintenance; however, you'll likely need a new set of tires each year if you put that many miles on, and for that you should figure ~$1700-1900 depending upon 20" or 21" wheels

Don't read this if you're tired of this thread; if you do read it, don't ***** about the thread.

One other thought occurred to me. If the OP is correct that the phrase "once per year or every 10,000 miles" means that he need not have the car serviced until he has drive it 10,000 miles no matter how long it takes him to do so, then the opposite is necessarily true, too: as long as you get the car serviced once a year, it doesn't matter how many miles you've driven during that year. But I sincerely doubt that MB or any court would agree that the warranty would cover necessary repairs if you drove the car 30,000 miles in 12 months without having it serviced during that time. (Yeah, I know people who drive that much.)

And of course this is all legalese — it's a friggin' contract..

No-- it's every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first... just like the warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles-- whichever comes first. Nobody should ever drive around with over 1 year old oil regardless of mileage-- oxidation occurs with time AND use.

The AMG GLC - 43 maintenance costs are almost the same as any other GLC. Meaning, fairly reasonable and not too expensive.

That being said, the maintenance for the 63 especially the 63-s are substantially more expensive…for EVERYTHING.

(These costs are OEM and post warranty for me) Case in point, I’ve got an AMG GLC-63s Coupe and for brake pads and rotors alone on all 4 corners, that will cost me nearly $4,000 and rotors ought to be changed after your second set of pads, generally speaking.

Then you have a full fluid change - Trans is less of an issue to change as it’s less frequently; plus filters that generally runs into the $1,500 range and more.

Tires as above are expensive and you will need a set each year unless you drive infrequently and like a turtle.

The most expensive aspect apart from fuel costs are brake pads - if done OEM and at the dealer; rotors, tires and oil changes. Every year you will be doing one of the above.

TBH, I’d go for the AMG GLC 43 as it’s pretty good with less maintenance issues and is fast enough without the ego of thinking one is a race car driver lol. That’s coming from an owner of a 63-s, the maintenance and tires as well as the LACK of tires options really F’ing irks me to no end.

Love the car but but BUT, everything is bloody pricey, even the bolts.

Now, if you wish to make all of the above cheaper, buy non OEM whilst still maintaining quality and do everything yourself maintenance wise…good luck.

Oh, and don’t expect much help here or anywhere on any torque specs you may need, just a heads up.

Any good shop specializing on Mercs gna be at least 50% cheaper than stealership, thats for starters. Get your *** off the sofa and find your consumables for a good price. My first oil change was 45 for the 0-40 mob1 juice 30 mann filter and 60 labor, stealership quoted me 700 lol. Brakes for 4k ? Gimme a brake man , decent ceramic pads are like 150-200 all around, front rotors around 800-900, rear rotors r like 150-200, i see 2k tops with labor here. just dont be lazy and shop around.

2020 GLC 300 69k miles. Dealer fixed a wiring issue under a seat. I am curious about the “lifetime belt” that is impossible to access.

I drove a 2014 SS. Love that car and gifted it to my son (lucky dude). Now in a 2020 GLC 63S. Yes you’ll take a wash with maintenance for sure, but 500+ HP and the exhaust……..
