Tires spec’d for GLC63 on GLC43?

My searches for All Season tires for my GLC43 Coupe come up empty. OTOH, there are many All Seasons available for GLC63. Given my 43 has staggered 21” wheels 8.5” / 9.5” rims, is there any reason NOT to consider tires spec’d for 63?

All that matters is the size and if it will fit without rubbing.

Consider ALL tires that fit the car and your budget.

I guess what I’m really asking is if others have used GLC63 spec’d 265/40 & 295/35 x 21 tires vs GLC43’s 255/40 & 285/35 x 21 w/o adverse effect, rubbing etc, on GLC43 with 8.5/9.5 x 21” rims.

I think the question was the tires rather than wheels? I'm about to pull the trigger on 265/40-21 and 295/35-21 for my GLC43 wheel setup since I can't find all-season tires in the standard stock configuration. I thought there had been some threads in here that this works quite well?

Yes - but if the wheels will fit, the tires will fit.

Not necessarily - the GLC63 appear to have wider wheels? So as a package they may fit but installing the wider tire from the GLC63 to the narrower wheel from the GLC43 may not work? Or what's your logic..

OK, I'll get back to specific information, rather than the "Here is a book on fishing - go teach yourself to fish" response from earlier.

OP: Are these your OEM tire sizes?

255/40ZR21 102Y. 8.5Jx21 ET40
285/35ZR21 105Y 9.5Jx21 ET22

If that is the case, then you are limited by your RIM size.
Let's confirm that first. Standing by...

@larrysing I have the same vehicle as the OP and yes those are the tire sizes. And yes I think the max tire size for a 8.5" width rim is 255 so the original setup on the GLC43 appears to be already at the max. But when searching around there are tons of setups for 8.5 wheels where the owners increased the tire size to 265 with no issues?

Yes, you can find many instances of people going "oversize" in relation to tire to wheel ratios.

How that affects the drivability and longevity of the tire, and how the cars react to it, is more of a case-by-case situation.

All-season tires found 265 and 295

Like may of you, I was looking for AS tires for my GLC43 with 21" rims. The summer Conti's didn't do it - hydroplaning, crabbing and I was concerned about their utility in winter.

I found that 265/40/21 and 295/35/21 works with no rubbing. I purchased Continental EXTREME CONTACT DWS06 PLUS and am thrilled. 50k warranty, good ratings in snow, no crabbing, no rubbing, MUCH quieter and MUCH MUCH smoother ride. I admit that I don't track, I'm a fairly conservative driver and that I don't push the 43 the way many of you do but if you're looking for an A/S tire, I give these, and the size (up) a positive rating.

Do you have any pictures of your GLC with this setup? I was thinking about getting these exact tires but wanted to see how far the larger tires stick out! Thanks!

I have GLC 63s forfged 21s on my GLC43 and GLC63 sized all-season Pirellis installed with no issues.

The REAL issue is the OEM wheel size of the GLC43 I believe may be too thin to run the GLC63 tires

Dear whartonsprinter,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the DWS06+
tires. Could you please let me know if you ever had any crabbing issues with them during colder weather? I know this thread is a few years old, so I am hoping that you had the tires for several years and that would give you good feedback. I currently have the Continental UHP summer tires on my GLC 43, and they are crabbing like crazy even in 70°F weather. Thanks much.

Better late than never. My OEM Continental ContiSportContact 5 UHP summer tires (255/40/21 & 285/35/21) needed to be replaced on my 2020 GLC 43 Coupe. I had replaced them with 265/40/21 & 295/35/21 Continantal DWS06 Plus all season tires. The crabbing issue has been completely resolved. The tires fit great, have great grip, and are quiet. No rubbing at all. Speedometer is 100% accurate now.

You’re Very Welcome

Nice! You’ll be happy with the 265 front and 295 rear sizes. I’ve experienced no rubbing on mine even in the lowered Sport+mode.

I just yesterday, replaced the Goodyear RunOnFlats with a set of Michelin cross climate 2. I run a staggered 20 inch rims on my GLC43AMG and the difference in handling is night and day when compared to the RunOnFlats...

Ordered, installed, and aligned my new tires. I went with the Falken Azenis FK460 with the glc63 size, and so far for the past two weeks driving has been really good. The slightly wider tire grips well on turns and honestly wheels still look good. These are the 21" glc 43 wheels. 265/40R21 and 295/35R21
