Hermes LT module

I took delivery of 2021 AMG GLC 63S coupe in August. The car came without Hermes LT module. As of yet the dealership has not received any modules and has no update on potential delivery time.
Wondering if anybody having the same predicament got their car fitted with the module already?

Same situation here. 2022 was the target “date” for part availability.

Judging by number of responses to my post there are not many of us affected by shortage of electronic components.

not many ppl use forums these days and after my 2022 been cancelled i started to look for existing \ coming soon stock and of 6 cars they offered me 4 were incomplete , no hermes or some other options like no burmester or something else. most of the cars our dealers receivde after september have regular analog cluster and no premium sound and hermes so i cant say that shortage is pretty significant. manufacturer of that caliber looks pretty stupid when they ship incomplete premium car with that price tag .. maybe they really put those v8 on pause and used existing components to build most profitable S , if i were merc i would do that to save the image

The Hermes module is the mobile broadband router providing communication and internet services to the car. So anything that requires an online connection is non-functional w/o it. SOS and all the Mercedes Me services such as live traffic, vehicle status, remote locking/unlocking, online destination searches etc.

They have been holding many of the parts affected by the shortages for the more profitable models, in particular the S Class, but also the GT BS and have been delaying those until they have all the parts rather than shipping them unfinished. Unless they are redesigning the Hermes module using more modern chips that are available, I wouldn't keep my hopes up even for 2022. The chip shortage affecting most car manufacturers is a bit of a self inflicted situation. Car manufacturers rely on older chip architectures that nobody really wants to make anymore. Tesla for example has redesigned their hardware to use newer and available chips and rewrote parts of their firmware to deal with the shortage, but for most other car manufacturers that get their ECUs etc. from various different suppliers this is a much bigger job to modernize all their hardware and rewrite the firmware.

If we have missing Hermes module, are they able to retrofit it when parts become more available by the dealer?

Yes, that's the plan. The dealership is supposed to make you sign a waver, acknowledging the missing module and that you will return with the car to get it retrofitted once it's available.

2022 GLC 43 AMG SUV
I ordered a 2022 GLC 43 SUV in November, with a delivery planned for March 2022, but a dashboard camera and a wireless phone charger were listed as iffy due to chip shortages... Weird and unexpected parts to be in short supply, aren't they? MB could get them from Amazon... ;-)

I'm scheduled to have this put in tomorrow. I called my MB dealer and they had 2 on the shelf and I was the first one to call. The letter said an hour, but they wanted all day due to "programming".

Super! I got two recalls; Hermes and Augmented Video. The first available appointment seems to be in August.

I am scheduled for tomorrow installation of both Hermes module and Augmented Reality camera at a different dealership. Finally.
As per dealership, there will be Engine Control Module Service Campaign announced soon. This will be software only update. Apparently MB already informed dealers, but the software has not been released to them yet. The person I talked to could not provide any details about fixes the update is suppose to come with.

I got my Hermes module done today and have to go back tomorrow to have the dealership "pair" the car. The module and the programming are done in the service area and apparently the "pairing" is done by the sales staff. You might want to go ahead and set up the connect me app and get it done in one dealer visit.

Got my letter in a week or two ago and have my appointment to get my Hermes module installed. Any of you guys get yours in yet? My augmented reality camera recall came in as well, did that last month but not really crazy about it.

I got the retrofit of the chip in a few hours, but it took the sales department over a week to get the car registered so that I could use it with the app. The app then took about 36 hours to fully allow all of the features. Just remember to have them do that since they couldn't register it with Mercedes when you bought it. At least at my Mercedes Dealer the service department can't do that part. Good luck.

In my case, it took a full day to retrofit the module and the camera and download all software updates. The registering and pairing was done the next day at sales dept. It didn't take much time, perhaps 20 minutes or so and the app was ready for remote operation two hours later.

Same here, very happy to have it all done. Although I’m a bit let down by the remote start. It turns off when you open the doors and then you have to start it anyways.

That is common in every car I know that has remote start. I’m with you that it seems unnecessary since the doors have to be locked for remote start.

My 2014 RAM 1500 ECO Diesel did not turn off the car! You had to get in, insert the key fob and then it would turn "fully" on. They could have engineered that if they wanted to by a series of actions, example:

Use remote start
Program such that when you unlock and open the door, you have to say put your foot on the brake and hit the start button once, or something to that effect-

Not a big deal, but they could have made it a little better!

this will drag on for a while but is more of an issue for some car manufacturers than others.
