Lightbulb Buying a new 2022 GLC43… thoughts?

Hi, I hate being the noob asking noob questions, but since there aren’t many posts on the 2022 GLC43, I figured I would ask… My simple question and Tl;DR… Is there any reason I should not buy this car as my daily driver if I am driving 15000mi per year and keep it for 3-4 years? A quick note, I do get my miles covered by work, so some of the cost is absorbed. Rougher ride is not a concern. General reliability, overall driveability, comfort, etc are key. Any bigger guys have any long drive comfort issues?

Whole story if you wish to read:

I am looking to buy a 2022 GLC43. I test drove a 2019 GLC43 (unplanned) when looking at another car and absolutely loved this little thing. I’m on the larger side (6’3” netween 285 and 325lb depending on the time of year) and was surprised I fit.

Due to the crazy prices on used cars, I decided a new 2022 was a better deal and started looking. Due to shortages and restrictions, most 2022’s are missing the burmester sound system, the Digital Instrument Cluster (which was made standard for 2022), “Hands Free Access,” and more. I know some 21’s were missing the Hermes communication modules, but that seems to not be an issue.

The reason I am looking to make a move now is I am not happy with my current car. The trade value is around $5-6k more than it should be worth + the tax benefit on trade. I have only been working with dealers that aren’t charging a premium on the 22’s as I would never pay over sticker. The other factor is that interest rates are set to be increased and I have an amazing rate from my credit union, so I figured I would take advantage.

So, Should I buy one? I know a new GLC was supposed to be out this year, but was bumped. I am OK getting the last year of a series rather the first of a new model. Please feel free to talk me into or out of this car.

I appreciate the help!

GLC C63
I'll chime in with a few thoughts after going with a near fully loaded 2019 Lincoln Nautilus to a CPO C63 (Meaning....I didnt get to choose the options!)

The Lincoln had more creature comforts. Examples....Auto dimming brights, ventilated seats, the drivers seat moves to the far back position when opening the drivers door to get out to make it easier to ge in and out of. The seats are bigger and not as tight and wrapped around. My C63 lacks all of that. It also has a much less comfortable ride.

That said, I thoroughly enjoy the C63 whereas the Lincoln was just ok. That powertrain in the Benz makes everything else fade away. I'm a tall rather skinny guy so the C63 seats actually fit me better, but I do miss the seat moving all the way back to get out. The other options I believe you can option in so given you can check the boxes you'd be pretty close.

But for me....If I were 20 years older and a bit less high strung I'd probably simply upgrade to a new Nautilus. I'm not however, so I upgraded into a hard chargin boosted V8 and I dont regret it one damn bit. If you are not as concerned about creature comforts I'd say get the Benz and dont look back. If creature comforts are the top of your list, I'd also shop a few other options just to make sure. Oh, one last thought.....The Nautilus has what feels like EV levels of gas usage compared to the C63 lol.

My thoughts, worth what you paid for it.

I drove the GLC 43 Coupe and I thought the steering was way too jerky. Then I test drove the 63 Coupe and those issues disappeared. I ended up with a 63s Coupe and couldn't be happier. If you can find a 63s Coupe, do it. The sound that engine puts a smile on my face every time I drive.

GLC43 AMG coupe
I've got a 2020 GLC43 coupe and like it overall. I don't like SUVs or trucks (wife has always had non-MB SUVs). I have had almost entirely convertibles in the past (including an Audi and a MB), but in between MB convertible and the GLC43 I had a Maserati Ghibli SQ4. Just sharing for some perspective. I think the GLC43 coupe is a successful combination of a sports car and a practical one. I strongly considered a Porsche Macan S before getting the GLC43.

Two issues I am not happy about, 1 of which I posted about, and the other I'm about to post about. (1) Nothing but summer tires for this car, which is bizarre. Part of the reason I got rid of the Maserati is that i knew I was going to be spending more time in the mountains, and it would have gotten beat to hell - told the MB dealer folks this. I do slip on the ice/snow more than I should, very frustrated about this. (2) Mine has an acceleration "dead spot", which I will describe in greater detail in the post I'm about to start. It's dangerous, and the dealer has no answers or helpful information.

GLC 43 tires

Just bought a used 2019 GLC 43 AMG SUV. Love it!!!. Agile, holds the road like a slot car. Powerful. Only complaint is it comes with summer-
tires
, and hard if not impossible to find All Weather tires. Mine are OK for most of year But hesitant to take to the mountains in winter.

GLC43 AMG coupe
My tires are 255/40/21 and 285/35/21. Ended up putting Continental Sport Contact tires on the AMG GLC43 Coupe per guidance of the recommended tire guy located in the mountains. I do ok on a bit of snow or scattered ice; heavy snow and significant ice and I'm in trouble. However, no way to know in which of those situations all-season would have made a big difference. (I've gotten completely stuck 2x this winter, once overnight but thankfully only a few feet from our mtn. home).

Have you lads shopped for tires purely on the size needed rather than the brand of car, model etc etc?

Check out Vredstein Wintrac Pros. They have your front tire size and very close for the back where I think it will work. Look at overall diameter and stay within ( don’t quote me here) 3% of OEM and keep front and rear same size.

Yeah my winter tire set up is not staggered but rather square. I’ve yet to find all season tires here in Japan that fit 21” on the stock OEM 63s rims. Stateside seems to have more options!!

Not hard, just impossible. I check all the tire sites every couple months just to see if anyone has come out with an All-Season in both sizes (255/45/20 and 285/40/20), because the Goodyear Run-Flats are AWFUL to ride on. If I'd have known there were no other all-season options I would have seriously considered not buying the car.

Tim, does it get cold where you live? If so, winter tires would help at least while it is 40 and colder. Another option, what I did for winter and my all season, is I went regular ( not runflat) and carry a little tire inflate liquid/ compresser kit in a neat little carry case from Griots. Some cars have room for a Modernspare.com. My E does not. If I was doing long trips with it I would buy the spare with a case and throw on the back. $400 insurance.

I'm in Seattle, so we get under 40 for a little while in the winter, but usually not for very long. I've contemplated leaving Summer tires on the car all year, but I worry too much about the tires becoming bricks during a cold streak. And since we get hot weather here as well, Winter tires all year wouldn't be good either. My only options are keeping the terrible run-flats or buying two sets of tires and switching twice a year - yuck.

And yeah, if and when I find all-weather tires I'll definitely keep a can of sealant and a compressor since I don't have a spare. I'd rather risk needing a tow than live with these awful Goodyear run-flats.

according on the dealerships and world wide reference, the last year that the X253 or C253 with full options are 2021, as my dealership was advising me that should get a 2022, ( when i want the car in 2021 November ), they claimed that no one will buy a 2021 car at the end of the year, like 2 more months your car is one more year old. as i explained to them i want the Brilliant Blue as they don't make it anymore in 2022, as they have no choice of selling me the last 2021 GLC43 with full options. only thing that is missing is the AMG black leather, other then that, you name it, it has it. loved it.

time goes by, loved my car since day 1, got a call from a dealership like a month back, they said they would offer me $90k CAD ( i am located in Vancouver ) to buy back the car and give me a 2022, i ask why? because there are alot of people asking why there are so many options had been missed out, like the AR navigation, easy-pack tailgate, Burnmaster, and some other things, so sales are actually calling people who actually own those cars and see will they sell it back to them to make a small profit, I rejected at the spot, as specially i know all that thing of things are missing and the price of the car had gone up around 5K without those features?.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'd also want to assist you by introducing you to the website https://playcasinoscanada.com/free-spins-no-deposit/ You may go there if you enjoy playing online casino games since there are connections to websites where you can win big money playing those games.
