Brake pad orientation

Hi

Quick question. I just had new pads all round on my glc43, but I noticed that the rear pads directional arrow indicator (Is that what the arrow is?) is opposite the rotation of the wheel (as per photos below). I understand from google that the arrow should point the travel of the wheel and the L or R indicator should be well, on the left and right of the car. Is that the case for an AMG, and if so should I go back to the dealer and 'discuss' with them? You can also see a fresh clean 'score' on the inner edge of the disc, which seems concerning, as if the pads are not aligned like the old ones.

They misinterpreted the L/R appropriate sides...

In automotive terms, the Left/Right are taken into account when you are inside the car facing the direction of travel,

Thanks. So dangerous and should take it back to the dealer? Seems like a mistake a Merc technician shouldn't be making.

TBH, I would say that it is very astute of you to in fact even notice this installation kerfuffle in the first place…most would not. 👍😎

Ha Thanks. The dealer also priced me for new rear rotors, saying they 'are worn out' and anyway "rear wheels must change brake pads and brake disc together". I've never heard of that, and the discs look and behave perfect to me for a 32k km car. My spider senses were tingling that it wasn't necessary, hence the closer inspection when I got home.

Nothing personal, just business. There r bunch of "recommendations" of doing this and that and making $ is the only reason. Brake rotors have acceptable thickness and unless they r warped or have not enough material they can be used with another set of pads. Merc oem pads are semi metallic and r pretty abrasive so id say rotors can take at least 2 sets of pads and like 3-4 sets of some ceramic pads. I recently drove CPO E63s with 35k miles on it and new set of pads recently installed. rotors were worn out like 40-50% so perfectly fine for one more set.
