`17 GLC43 Revolutions per mile - concern on new Yokohama tires-
Hi everyone. Just have a quick question- Read through a LOT of the tire posts. This is my daily driver here just outside of Denver Colorado. Came to me with Pirelli Zero Scorpion A/S pluses at 3/32 tread remaining as well as a slow leak in the front right tire that the tire shop said cannot repair with such low tread. The tire sizes that were on this when I took possession (F) 265/40/21 (R) 295/35/21.
After reviewing the limited tire options, and having had Yokohama Geolandars before I decided to go with Yokohama Geolandar X-CV at (F) 265/45/21 (R) 295/40/21.. Just had Firestone mount the tires for me and I am getting a LOT of rubbing up front-on the knuckle of the strut tower. Going straight if I'm completely straight, it's almost gone, but the slightest move left or right and it starts rubbing. So I am a little bit stuck here because Yokohama does not offer the exact size I need. Now I have removed the front tires and reinstalled the 265/40 Pirellis up front til I figure this out. This apparently has the 8.5" front and 9.5" rear OEM AMG wheels as well.
Please advise-My main concern is revs per mile. The pirelli tire sizes that were on it had the revs at -5. Stock tires are -4. (front) 255/40R21. (rear) 285/35R21 - But if I go with the 275/40/21 then the revs go to +14. Really concerned about the all wheel drive system with that difference.

Yeah, you need to stick closer to OE size. Not only did you up the aspect ratio, but also the width. Stock front is 255/40, so that is 255 * .4 = 102 mm sidewall. Now you have 265 * .45 = ~119 mm. that's almost 2 cm taller, so no surprise you get rubbing. You are way off spec. 21" wheels are meant for a performance setup, so there are only summer performance tires for that size. You need to go down in wheel size if you want an AS setup.

I'm with you, nothing worse that someone necroing dead threads. Unfortunately, it's a double edged sword. One the one side, it shows that some people actually know how to use the search function, but at the same time, it's annoying when they resurrect threads their searches yield. Sadly, a lot of these resurrected thread OPs don't update once their issue is resolved and generally only come back when they are faced with another issue, or worse, never return.
The you have people who necro threads just because they don't look at the last post date (I've been guilty of that as well, not knocking anyone in particular).
It would be nice if the admins would set some thread age resurrection rules, like they have with the post edit function.
