Considering becoming a new GLC 63 owner
I'm just over the GX. I'm on my third GX in 2.5 years. First one, my house was being remodeled so I couldn't park in the garage. Drunk F250 driver flew down my street, not realizing it's a dead end, and SLAMMED into my parked car so hard, the SUV parked in front of it went 50ft down the road. The second one got stolen. I ended up having to buy a new car nearly overnight (work and stuff). Driving in the left lane on 4 lane highway. Car in the right lane rear ends the car in front of it. Car next to me freaks out, slams on brakes and spins into my passenger side door
I got an X3 as a loaner and decided I wanted something sportier and preferably smaller. So here I am.
The BMW TTV8s certainly have their fair share of problems. I was looking at them first, but ultimately avoided them. Also, BMW, outside of the engine, doesn't seem to hold together. The other big thing is that the X5 is too big. Aside from loving the car, a big perk of the GLC is that it is shorter than my GX, which is a tight fit in the garage while still having a without the "small SUV engine."
I feel like the X3M isn't enough car for the money, but I keep considering it. Plus, the AMG V8 exhaust note is ::chefkiss::
Macan is way too expensive for what it is. GTS with under 20k miles is $75-80k with only 375hp. Turbo is $85k and only 434hp. I want to keep it under $85k, and I can with those cars, but I'm going to trade in a bulletproof car for a smaller one and pay $40k on top of it to go from boring to "meh, not boring."
My real goal was to get one of the two AMGs and do a tune + maybe some mild upgrades.
I'll go test drive an X3M I guess. I'd probably just get that new. I can easily get what I want under $85k new, and that doesn't require an extended warranty.
Or I guess I could keep the Lexus and keep holding on to hope that I'll ever get a C8-Z06
Not only is the Macan expensive, it's frankly too small. I'm a tall guy and there isn't a lot of legroom behind me in the 63, but I looked at a Macan and there was zero. Zero.

M340 just doesn't have the power I want. 382hp. It's certainly a lot faster than my GX460, with 80 more hp and 1000 less pounds, but it's hardly something that's going to make me grin from ear to ear when I stomp the gas. It's not slow, but if I'm going to do this, I'm going to do it. I'm not going to take on all the maintenance and reliability of a german car and leave half the goodies on the table.
Mid 11 1/4 mile and sub 3.5 0-60** is a different story. That's about where the 63S and X3M Competition are. I think the M is a little faster than the AMG. But that exhaust note on the AMG...
I'll add X3M to the consideration list. I have an X3 30i as a loaner right now, and the interior isn't very impressive imo. I much prefer the GLC (and GLE, but that's more of an M5 competitor).
**Kind of funny- that's about the same 0-60 and 1/4 mile et as the Viper. The Viper has about 10mph at the end of the quarter, which is massive, but still kind of funny. I'm pretty sure it's the gearing. It has extremely tall first gear because it's set up for road racing. It's nearly 1000lbs lighter than both with about 150hp more horses and (presumably) less drag, so I'm not sure what else it really could be.
Just my two cents . . . I just picked up a 2020 GLC 63. Looked closely at the X3M, Jaguar F Pace SVR, Macan GTS/Turbo, 2020 Range Rover Velar SVA and new Ford Bronco (I know - the last one was an off beat thought). All great performance SUVs and would be happy with any (save the Bronco). All of the above feel like an SUV while the GLC and Macan feel like tall sports sedans. No comparison in driving feel for me - the GLC and Macan stood out. And then the V8TT in the GLC stood out even more and the GLC has a better ride/handling balance than the Macan in my opinion. On top of that, the GLC 63 is the rarest of all save for the Velar SVA. The tech in the 2020 plus GLC is a nice upgrade but there were really very few 2020 and 2021 GLC's produced (and no 2022s) and thus very few for sale now.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Made an offer on a 2019 GLE63 (non-s). Grey w/black. I think it more or less has every option other than HUD (which seems to be hard to find). Sport exhaust, Premium 3 package, etc. They were asking $69k + some bull**** dealer fees. I offered $69k + split shipping ($900 or so total).
It was just too good of a deal to pass up on imo. I'll extend the warranty for a year or so (it has 1 yr left). If it hasn't had problems in 2 yrs (20k-ish miles), I'll start modding it.
Here's to hoping they accept. Some of those dealers love their fees. I wont pay them in principle.

It's just BS, which is why I'm willing to die on this hill over $1300.
They claimed it was for doing the registration and taxes and blah blah.
I told them I was across the country, and I can register it here myself when it gets here.
Oh no, due to financing, with a lien, they have to do all that stuff with the DMV.
So I offered to wire them the full amount.
Then "the manager" said no. lol, whatever.
There was another in NJ I wanted but they wouldn't sell it unless I showed up in person, lol.
I'll keep looking and being patient. I'm barely even in town for the next month, and I dont see them appreciating. My GX isn't going to depreciate any and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm a little bummed, so I'm taking the viper to work today

edit: Would you guys go for a
GLE with 12k (ish) miles for $70k or
GLE with 28k miles for $60k?
I'm thinking I could get a lot of warranty for $10k....
