Help - my 2018 GLC is totaled. What to buy??
The other week my highly optioned and aftermarket upgraded 43 was hit broadside and appears the Bpillar hit hard enough to trigger a total loss. Likely going to replace in the next 30 days. Looking at used glc63 - Macan GTS /Turbo.
what opinions do you have on long term viability of these and is there something else to really consider?

Sorry to hear.
I wouldn't touch a current production MB engine with a very long pole. Reasons are well-established poor reliability.
Have a look at Macan and X3. The Macan is the best driver's car in this segment. The X3 base model is the reliability gold standard in the German compact luxury SUV world. X3 offers M40 and full-on M versions. Macan GTS is pretty snappy.
Fully optioned with all the trimmings, the Macan is the winner in this segment - leather interior, air suspension, comfort, looks, value retention. The main complaint about the Macan is it has the smallest rear seating area of the three cars being discussed.

And, at least as of 2021, no Android Auto connectivity. That eliminated it from our consideration (It was to be my wife's car, and we're no i-couple...). Has the situation changed?
Then, the controls were a total mess, and the back-seat space was atrociously small. But it's a good-looking car!

Yep, inferior backup camera and no Android.
It looks great, sounds great and drives great. And is more reliable than MB and holds value in the preowned market. And offers more luxury options than BMW and MB in the segment.
The Macan has a lot to offer people who want that combination of attributes. It’s not for everyone. No car is.

You could go with an all-electric Mercedes... just sayin'. Used prices are quite reasonable right now. I know Chassis would be the first to recommend you buy another MB. I'm not just trolling him when I say that, really. I'm as honest as that guy on TV "news" who gives us the nightly headlies we need to know.

I just went from a similar GLC 43 to a BMW X5 M60i last month and so far do not have any regrets, I drove both a Porsche Cayenne S, and the MB GLE 63. They wanted a $10k bonus on the GLE 63! The Porsche was a better car in many aspects, however no allocations available still $120K, got the BMW for $90K. My GLC was still in one piece, so I got $50k (only 7,500 miles) on the trade. So far so good, nice ride, plenty of git-up-and-go.
