Update on my 2024 GLC AMG 43

Just an update. The dealership has had my vehicle for over 3 weeks and they are really trying to fix the issue.
They also did a lot the first time, and even had Mercedes involved then. They did what some has posted of a 'reset'. The techs at the dealer had to have Mercedes release items for the tech to even do that. It was better for a while, but as much as I wanted to believe, it was not fixed and I learned to 'throttle as if manual', but that stops working after a while. I had a supervisor tech ride with me the first time.

This time I did a ride with the the Master Tech at the dealer, The normal issues occured, but the bog down when turning and throttle down occured as well, that is one of those hard to replicate, but super dangerous. I didn't try to replicate the catostophic transmission error....by that point I realized this isn't something isolated, but Mercedes has no fix. I think it is probably software related, but Mercedes has no fix. I have opened a lemon law case with Mercedes, but REALLY wish they could fix the issue, I love the car! I have read a lot of things out there, but for dealers that tell you a 'reset' will fix it, software will fix it, or it is you and the transmission learning how you drive are just blowing you off. My dealer even told me to open a lemon law case with Mercedes before I brought it in this last time.

Even dealership techs can not fix this, it is all on Mercedes to find the fix. I hope they can.

I had typed a lot then did something to wipe it out. They have not mentioned replacing any mechanical parts. I don't really think replacing it would help. I guess they don't either or they would have tried it. This is very expensive for Mercedes, the master tech drives my car home every night, records info the next day, sends it to Mercedes, on and on....The engine / transmission combo are new. I have what seems to be unrelated issues, but don't think they are, it just seems the car doesn't know what to do at times. I think software related, but also don't think there is a fix. You will think I'm stupid, but think the auto on / off software is part of the issue, even when it is turned off. I was told that Mercedes is working on new software to remove the auto off feature soon. If true, it will be pushed to the vehicles when it is ready.

What state are you in? I opened a case with Mercedes about a month ago to start the process. I REALLY hope they can fix it so paused the case until they tell me they can not fix it. They know the issue is real and not uncommon. If they refund the money, I could not even get the same vehicle color now...Nautical Blue with nightfall and nightfall plus packages....I am in Texas, but honestly, they were not going to fight it even from the start of opening the case. I just want to give them a little while. They have provided a GLE AMG 53 that had less than 100 miles on it as my loaner....so they are taking care of me.

I have an update that they replaced all of the same items mentioned in RJAZAR's post before. They want me to go in and test drive to see if the Jerky part is fixed.

I know I’m a little late jumping in here, but I wanted to share my experience too. I bought a 2024 GLC AMG brand new, and honestly, I’ve had this problem from the very beginning. At first, I thought maybe the engine just needed to break in, but I’ve already put 20,000 miles on it and the issue’s just getting worse, especially when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Sometimes the whole system seems to freak out, with this loud noise coming from the top of the car (almost like someone threw a rock at my windshield). All the warning lights flash, and it makes this nonstop beeping, like the one you get when you’re about to hit something while parking.

I’ve brought it back to the dealership for the same thing four times now. Each visit, they blame it on a software update, do whatever they do behind the scenes, and then give me the car back. It’ll drive fine for maybe a week or two, but then the same problems start up again. I honestly think there’s something wrong with the transmission, but I get the sense the dealership doesn’t want to admit it, at least not before my warranty runs out. Earlier this year, they actually kept my car for almost a week, supposedly so they could “identify and fix” the problem.

At this point, I’m just over it. I rely on this car for my real estate business, and I really don’t have the time to keep running back to the dealership. Trading it in has crossed my mind, but considering I put over $30K down and still owe more than $30K, I’d just be losing money. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

I started 2025 by treating myself to a 2025 GLC AMG63 which ended up "a lemon" and was replaced in April with a 2025 AMG43 Coupe which I have a "love hate" relationship with. The 63 was returned because of serious electrical problems and if I have my way the 43 will also be returned for the "jerky transmission" problem that they tried to fix in August. My future with Mercedes is looking very bleak right now. Sorry

See if they are willing to do trade assist with a GLE 53 or E 53 if you don't need an SUV?

GLC43 x254 2025
Hi everyone. I just bought a 2025 GLC43 (X254). I’ve noticed strange jerks/bangs when shifting from 1st to 2nd, from 2nd to 1st, and from 5th to 4th. The car is a 2025 model. Are there any reliable updates on what to do about this? Should I update the software, change the transmission fluid, reset the adaptation? Or is there still no solution to this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.

unfortunately with dry pack clutch in place of the fluid torque converter this is how it behaves, it helped me adapt to it by thinking of it as a manual transmission with a computer running the clutch and shifts.

I can appreciate that, but why then does it change the shift points? For example, if I am in Sport + or Dynamic why would I want the car to shift going from 1st to 2nd at 2500 RPM? It just seems a little erratic and not at all predictable as what I was used to in my Audi when I was in S mode.

my last two cars were both x4 m's and they had more conventional transmissions but they were fast to shift so sporty in nature and I always drive in sport mode. this car is definitely more aggressive in nature than either of the bmw's I had which I found odd as everyone thinks Bmw's are more sporty and mercedes are soft and cushy but not these amgs, this car is very aggressive and it's a learning curve. it's a great car once you adapt but it takes time. it often holds the gear for much longer than you would think and other times it shifts at different points, I think its a combination of driving dynamics selected as well as throttle position and how warm the car is and temperature outside so many things seem to contribute to how it behaves.

It appears that Mercedes has released a transmission software update dated 28 January 2026. The listed reasons include harsh shifts during 1–2, 2–3, and 3–4 gear changes.

Has anyone installed this update and can confirm whether it resolves the issue?

Check my attachment.

I completely agree ... fun to drive if you are in that mindset and it gets uncomfortable for city driving sometimes

Since the car hasn't been in for this specific issue yet, the dealer is requiring a transmission "re-learning" process first. They noted that despite the new LI (technical bulletin), they can't jump straight to that repair without attempting a relearn. Apparently, it takes about 500 miles for the software to fully adapt and optimize, so now it's just a waiting game to see if it actually fixes the problem.

I have a 2025 AMG GLC43 and I was noticing the same thing with the shifting. I also had an issue when down shifting from 7th gear to 6 gear it would make a thud sound. I took it in to the dealership and they did some updates to it and fixed the issue.

Just had the new software update applied yesterday to my 2024 GLC 43 and it’s shifting smoothly much better now however time will tell if it stays this way. It was getting bad again on the 1-2 shift and 3-4 shift whether in automatic mode and with paddle shifting, also when downshifting 4-3 the transmission seemed to shudder as with the upshifts. Under heavy acceleration the 1-2 shift was rough throwing us forward with the shift seemed to be slamming the gear.

I took it in last year for the same issue and they said that Mercedes fixed the issue with software update. It was great for nearly a year but started acting up again. This time they said they finally fixed the issues with the latest update and last years update was a ‘bandaid’ fix...

When test driving with the shop forman, he stated that the computer is constantly learning and tuning the transmission to adapt to the driving behavior. I translate this to over-engineering which can result in erratic behavior especially if they are using AI to learn and adapt whereby they are tuning the AI model with each software update. Mercedes AMG should disable the adaptive transmission learning if indeed they are doing this as I am perfectly happy with the default tune that they apply when updating the software. This has been my first MB AMG and now understand what German engineering means. IMO the level of engineering is remarkable for the most part but in some ways it is over engineered to the point in this case.
