As you can see from my images below, two messages popped up on my 2018 AMG GLC43.
One shows that the traction control is unavailable
and the other says that active brake assist is unavailable.
All the discussions about this say to clean the radar behind the Mercedes emblem.
My car doesn't have the Distronic system so there is no radar behind the Mercedes emblem.
So...not sure what is going on. What lead to this message on the dash is a 30 minute drive and neighborhood driving speeds....with traffic all around me.
Got home. Parked in my driveway.
Came back out to swap cars in my driveway and that message came up.
Came back inside to look up what that meant and had other stuff to do.
About an hour later, needed to go do something and said, what the hell...started up the GLC43 and the message initially came back, but disappeared.
So, with no radar, how does the active brake assist work? How to I prevent this from coming back?

If you’re still on your original battery it could well be the problem. It will start the car with no hassles but won’t run the car and its systems. Check your voltage and if you can get a load test done on it.
with the car sitting overnight the battery should be around 12.8v. Maybe a touch lower but not much.

Agree. Sounds like a battery issue, check battery voltage and amperage with a meter and/or under workshop menu.
Are battery issues normal for this vehicle? The battery is quite new....replaced back in September of last year. I will say though, earlier this week, the car did need a jump. I have a jump pack (I have one in every car) and jumped the car and it started and had no further issues. This message came up about 3 to 4 days after that happened. I'll check the battery voltage tomorrow after it has been sitting a while and see what it says...

Depends on usage pattern, do you drive for at least 60 minutes on the highway once a week at least? If constant start stops plus the start/stop system might shorten the lifespan of the battery. If you want to, you may buy a scanner and scan the vehicle.https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...onal-more.html

The battery might also be part of a bad batch, is it an oem battery?
Well...I don't really drive with the start/stop system active...it's a good way to give your turbos an early death (a neighbor had to have his replaced at $12k...) So, I drive with the engine and transmission in sport mode always. But I'll give it a try and see if it still works.
