Congratulations Greg. It’s beautiful. I think you might be surprised to hear how many of us have been silently monitoring this thread. Personally, I’m dying to hear your most objective view on whether or not you think EABC is worth the additional $6K over and above the Air Suspension. Of course we don’t want you to have any buyer’s remorse if you say, “It’s ok, but maybe not work $6K.” I put a deposit down on a 450 with EABC, but as you know many of us can’t even get an allocation for a car with EABC. At least not yet.
It sounds like we’re all anxiously awaiting to hear all the details of your new acquisition. Feel free to indulge us with all your observations, reactions, likes & dislikes. You’ve got our full attention.

Anyone here have the running boards by any chance?
When I was checking out the X5 and X7, unless you actually use it as a step to get out of the car, your legs will rub against it as you get out of the vehicle. Rather annoying, actually, but I do see why certain individuals would need the running boards, other than for appearance.
Not sure if it's the same as the GLE 2020. I wasn't able to check out at any of the dealership that had the running boards but wondering if any owners experience this problem?
Also, the load door sill is chrome, correct? If so, might skip on this as it wouldn't match with the AMG night package.

Well, I was going to go my the dealer to look at two 450's they got in , one of which is the AMG exterior in Selenite grey like I ordered (though the one there was not fully loaded, or even close to it), and by today they were gone. I don't think they were there much more than 24 hours. These cars fly off the lots, apparently. I wanted to assure myself it would look as good as your white one, Greg.

Hi Skizz,
Sorry I should have been more clear. I was accounting for the full $8,100 of EABC - $1,710 for the Air Suspension = the $6K I was referencing. Since I want both, the Air Suspension and the road scanning ability of the EABC, I considered the road scanning feature of EABC as a $6K additional cost (for me). You're absolutly right. In total it will cost us $8,100. If the new GLE rides ultra smooth like the S-class then I'd be happy to pay the extra money. It not, then I might consider passing on it. I'll get the Air Suspension for for $1,710.

Sound system
I just got mine today. 450 polar white with amg and night package. It’s beautiful. But one thing killing me is the sound system. I’ve got the prem pack Burmester. Coming from just the premium Lexus audio (not levinson) this sounds horrible. Am I off base here? Suggestions?

I doubt very much that the car being new would have anything to do with it. Generally, speakers sound best when brand new. You should have the service department take a look, you may have a defective head unit. I doubt the speakers themselves are the issue.

For those who have ordered, does MB sent notification (email) of order acknowledgement or confirmation? How do you check status on production? Is there a portal that you get access to once order is confirmed?
#3372
Some say that new speakers need to be “broken in” before they reach their full potential. However, even when new, they should sound decent. If it sounds like they’re distorting at normal volumes, somethings wrong.

Here in the US the answer is unfortunately no. There is no portal we mere mortals can go to. The MB order system is called NetStar and your salesman has access to it, but we do not. In Germany (maybe other areas, but Germany, for sure) buyers do have an app which they can check the status of their builds. For every car I've ordered, I've set expectation with my salesperson that I would appreciate regular, timed updates on the status of the build.
