I still cannot see the use of it for $6500. Maybe if I drive one I will “see the difference,” but until then its off the order.
(Even all the SA’s I’ve been talking to have told me not to get it. )

If you have tested it I think you will most definitely appreciate it!
It think the new GLS with e-abc corners better then our e220d with AMG pkg and no air suspension.

And it works a lot even when it’s not in curve mode, counteracts body roll.

I have it on my GLS order.

So why SA says that it’s not any good is pretty stupid in my opinion.

I agree that it is very expensive and it was not an obvious choice.

But I can say that after a short while the incredible Curve mode is my daily favourite, and I can't get enough of leaning into the corners and the plushness of the suspension.

Would I order it again? Absolutely yes!

Must be a love hate relationship. So for now, and $6500, I hate it.

the Biggest turn off for me for the price of the vehicle is the fact the exhaust isn't even connected to the exhaust ports on the rear bumper. Instead it comes out of the muffler pointed down. What the hell is that Mercedes? And that was on a GLE 450 too.

the AMG Exterior package gives you functional exhaust outlets and a valves sport exhaust, among other things. Well worth it.

Are you referring to the 450 as well? I only have the chrome outlets on the bumper and the exhausts are not connected and are pointed down under the bumper.

It might get down to how long you keep a car, your personal driving style and where you drive, IMO. The regular Air Suspension in Sport Mode works fairly well to reduce body roll. It’s getting difficult to enjoy sporty handling very much in the West....probably even worse in the East and more populated regions.
Like you said, it’s a lot of money unless it’s something you need or Some just want the ultimate. To me it makes more sense on an AMG model but they still aren’t available in the US.

Here’s a pic of my AMG Body-450. They are straight but not attached. There is a baffle on each outer pipe that closes at idle but is open with the engine off. Attaching them creates a long term issue since the constant harmonic vibration is harder to control with the pipe fixed on each end. Guessing that’s the reason because pipes tend to crack or break With age. This doesn’t bother me and it’s better than the fake exhausts starting to show on more and more cars.

Standard on the 450 is pointed down with blanked off “exhaust outlets” in the bumper. With AMG Line you get what I described, working outlets and an exhaust that gets louder in Sport mode.

In this regard, I would prefer the exhaust tips just point downward and remain hidden. Let the rear bumper flow smoothly across w/o the exhaust cutouts.

I live in the UK and I have the 450 with AMG line exterior and interior and the exhaust pipes face downwards and are not connected.

Visible exhaust?

Each to his own, but my '12 W166 had the hidden exhaust which I did not like (changed on later models). IMO, you should see the exhaust on IC cars. The hidden configuration is sometimes used on luxury cars, but the GLE is a truck at heart.

A number of new vehicles do this. It's to keep the exhaust tip and rear bumper clean so they don't black deposits.

Motor Trend long term test

Here's a fairly worthless article in the July Motor Trend about their new long term GLE 450.

This was the first thread I started on the V167 25 months ago - now over 800,000 views! Glad we have an active and fairly civil community.

I found the report encouraging, he wanted to dislike the car but doesn't.

At the time you started this thread Greg everything about the new GLE was posted in it, if it had carried on that way owners would never have been able to find answers to issues they have had.

MT's long-term reports usually consist of a half page to a page describing driving somewhere, or traffic, or the color, without really telling you anything about the vehicle.
