It’s been a long wait. Now let’s hope they start building the sold orders, maybe even move the build dates sooner for those that got pushed back. Pricing must be firm now so when would we likely see a new DOG? The release says “Wholesale Launch”....When do they start the Retail launch and Configurator ? It seems like the largest market in the US is last to know.
I believe "wholesale launch" means they are now available for retail sale by the dealers. You would certainly think now that there are demo vehicles at dealers that the configurator would be updated. I keep checking it every day hoping one of these days I will be shocked!
Greg and Ron, have you checked with your local dealers if they received demo units? My dealer didn't know they were coming, Vance apparently ships them to dealerships without prior notice.

My sales guy will let me know. I'm sure they take a little longer to get out West.

My SA is out so I emailed him yesterday. Boise is probably 2-3 days longer delivery maybe longer with currnt storms in CA-so estimate they will be here Wednesday or Thursday. I wouldn’t be in town except it’s cold all over the SW. Snow in Vegas yesterday.
Got my pricing today, $72,000 base and with all options and sales tax $104,303.20. Its makes buying out my lease on the GLE 350d (that I love) look like a bloody bargain at $43,000 + tax. Yeah its almost 3 years old with 50,000 kms but totally problem free, amazing fuel economy and I really do love it.
Anyone have images of what "textured leather" that I am paying $1,990 for?

Haha, glad to know I am not the only one who keeps checking more than once every day. A dealer about 2 hours from me(Illinois) sent me an email that 2 GLEs are on their way to the dealership and that they are expecting them in the next couple of weeks.

Very unlikely, IMO. That is such an expensive option the dealers know the take rate will be really low.

my local (large) dealership was able to pull me built sheets for 4 cars randomly coming to his dealership as their first batch. He says they get multiple batches a week of cars in general so he's expected a steady stream of these to come in over the next month. Makes sense for such a volume seller, at least in my region where I see gles like water.
He personally mused that Mercedes really needs this car out now since sales have been bad the last 2 months, which also makes sense.
I have a feeling we will see a glut of these in dealerships after a month or two just like e and c classes.

Some cars at launch will only be built with a certain option setup and more exotic options get rolled out later in the production cycle. Hoping that's not the case, but if it is, then even ordering the car will see the car arriving later in the year.

Well, they certainly had many built for press cars, and mine is now being built with that option. So I think it's probably a matter of a dealer configuring an allocation with it.
You would think the configurator would be available on launch day.. Strategy is a bit puzzling.
I agree, why not start getting some more orders and the buzz from various Social Media & Blogs. Just guessing but they may be planning an official Launch date with some advertising. It may also take a week or more to get Demo’s to all the dealers. Then here’s the question about availability dates of inventory that dealers have ordered. They have been building the GLE for months so there might soon be “For Sale Units” available or they might be folded in with our Custom orders. Im guessing the latter.
FYI - I was told there were zero E-ABC in the Demo's being released.... we will see what we will see...
you have been correct about everything. The day after you said the cars were released I went I my dealer and he checked his system and it said the car had arrived either at their dealership or their nearby port center.
Do you know if besides the demo cars any cars have been assembled with e abc yet? My dealer is saying that besides the demo units a lot of cars have already been produced and are being shipped. He pulled a few spec lists for cars he's getting so it sounded truthful, but none of the 4 he showed me had e abc. Only one was even a 450 tho...

realy hope so. I think I'm dreaming that I might be able to drive home with a 450 with e abc by march 1. But I'll keep the dream alive!
