Traded my GLC43 for a GLE450 today, May delivery.

Test drove the GLE (300D) and was impressed, the MBUX system is stunning.

congrats ! I have a GLE 300D Premium Plus with Driver Assist and Tech Plus packs on order. Delivery next month. Bit concerned it may be a little slow, but I think it will be fine ��. Keen to hear your thoughts on how the 300D drove?

The 300D was fine, I could live with it but decided to get the 450 as basically same power output as GLC43. It had the premium plus pack but not driver assist or Tech plus (ordered on mine). Not sure what you drive now but the GLE is a big car, will take some getting used to. Suspension was really good and not as floaty as the Q7 I have been driving for last 6 weeks whilst my car was being repaired. Some really well thought out things on the car that I noticed in the 3 hours I had it, the stop/start turn off button is next to the engine start button, I always turn it off as I find it irritating. at the top of the centre binnacle you have the digital speedometer and next to is it the speed limit, on the glc the speed limit is on the sat nav screen. The car I drove was a 7 seater and the middle row folds and raises electrically. The voice recognition of the mbux is brilliant and you don't have to say "hey mercedes", just say "mercedes", The car felt very well built and lots of room in second row with electrically adjustable seats. I was also going to order 2 tone seats which the loan car had but have decided to order the black as the white was too "white" on the 2 tone ones.
I wasn't too keen on the augmented navigation, great gimmick but I think I will turn it off in my car.

I only went to dealers to get the car serviced and came out having ordered a car.

As far as I am aware all the UK GLE'S are 4 matic, never noticed any crabbing but obviously new tyres and decent temperatures at moment. I would imaging that the crabbing issue won't happen on the new GLE, they have solved it on the GLC by fitting new steering knuckles, if it does I will not be happy as I took MB to the motoring ombudsman with the GLC and ended up with them giving me a set of 20 inch AMG wheels with winter tyres, don't want the hassle again.

Thank you for that. I’ve got a GLC 250d and a C63 at the moment, and had a Land Rover Discovery 3 before.

Obviously it won’t be anywhere near as fast as the C63, but should be faster than my GLC, which honestly is good enough.

i thoroughly enjoyed the size of the Discovery, but not the unreliability. Hoping the GLE will be the best of all worlds.

Sure it will be Wiggis, your location isn't filled in so not sure where you are from. Apart from crabbing GLC is a really good car, had a discovery sport before. Was considering new X5 but too many issues on their forum.

Same spec on my 450 except no off road pack, when did you order yours.

US have more choice of options than UK, only one trim and 2 colours of seats available, massage seats in US not UK.

I placed the order on mid Feb, but I require the car to be delievered on End of May as my current C class is due to renew.

You should be ok, I ordered on Tuesday and been told end of May, not in the same position as you as my deal isn't up until next March but any later than end of May and I have told them I don't want car until September 1st.
