Just spoke with my SA and she’s probably just stringing me along, but she gave me some hopeful news. She said my build is no longer marked as “not shipped” and there is a boat with 4,000 units on it headed to port in the Northeast due to arrive in a day or two. She’s checking to see if my vehicle is on board.

It sounds fishy, but the one thing that makes me thing it may be on its way is that in all our previous conversations, they just stonewalled or simply said they don’t know when it will be done. This is the first time they’ve given me an indication it could be done.

Will have to wait and see.

Wait a minute...your GLE, built in Alabama, is coming by ship to a port in the NE? What? That is more than fishy.

That part actually doesn’t sound so far-fetched if they’re shipping 4,000 vehicles. Probably cheaper and faster to send them 3 hours south to the coast or 6 hours east to Savannah and put them on a ship than than driving 400 trucks 22 hours north.

It would make more sense if they arrive by rail than by ship.
I know mine is being shipped by rail to Montreal via CN Ry, and we have a port.

Correct. NA deliveries are by rail or truck.

My GLE 350 changed it status to B4-X-2 PROD on 5/21 and estimated production date is 6/10. Does this mean it is guaranteed to be finished production by that date and shipped right away which then will take about 2-3 weeks to arrive to CA?

You said the word - "estimated;" no guarantees. My production date slipped twice, then finished 25 days after the last date. But, that was a while ago so I expect things (hopefully) are getting under control.

I last posted my order status on May 13. I ordered a 450 fairly loaded with e-ABC on Jan 29. My production date was 6/3/2019 but there was no VIN assigned at that time. I check my status last weekend and the production date has been changed to 6/10/2019 but there is still no VIN assigned. The sales people tell me that the VIN is assigned 2 weeks before production is complete or 6 days before production is complete, depending on who you ask.

It is extremely frustrating trying to get complete or accurate information as to what is going on. I don't know why Mercedes thinks that details of a customer's order progress should be kept a secret from the customer.

The VIN is assigned when production starts, which may be the same. Mine was assigned 45 days before production was complete, but that was when things were REALLY screwed up.

I've had an assigned production date of 3-13, and a VIN assigned. Still not showing any movement, or completion, much less delivery.

My last production date (after slipping a couple times) was also 3-13. It completed 4-7 but not without a lot of intervention.

What intervention? I had an order date in Novemeber, Build date was to be 1st decade in Feb, now has been 3-13. What can I do to expedite??? Anything? My dealer is saying they can't find out anything!
thanks,

thanks,
I took a multi-prong approach, starting about 10 days after my production date in March. I first called MBUSA Customer Support, and got upgraded to an Executive Referral Manager at the Customer Assistance Center. He really couldn't get any information, either. I wrote emails to the MBUSA Vice-President of Customer Relations. The dealer called Distribution. In the end, I think I had some inside help or I might still be waiting. I would hope by now MBUSA would have figured out how to give some kind of ETA on stalled orders based on when parts are expected in, or whatever, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

GLE450 Ordered 12/11 Build date Mar 3rd decade, Mar 1st decade, 4/27 now 5/3
I ordered my fully loaded with E-ABC suspension GLE 450 on 12/11/2018. My initial production date 3rd decade in March. It quickly moved to the 1st decade in March. Then it moved to 4/27. Then it moved to 5/3. On 5/13/2019 I received and email from my SA that stated it has started production. As of today it still shows in production. I am assuming it has been built and it is parked outside on some lot in Tuscaloosa exposed to the weather.
I order all my vehicles because I want what I want and I don't want to settle with buying something off the lot. My experience with MB on this order is unbelievable bad and only keeps getting worse. From my perspective MB obviously has a huge production problem and I am amazed at how badly they are handling it. The 1st rule of customer service is to keep you customers informed if there is a problem. MB is doing the opposite by sending a letter to dealers to not give their customers an estimated date of delivery until the unit has shipped.
At this point I don't know if I really want the vehicle. A couple of days ago we went to the Land Rover dealer to see what they offered. They told me an order would take 4 months to delivery. We liked their product and currently trying to decide to abandon MB (because they abandoned me) and go with a Land Rover or stay the course with MB and stay uninformed and not knowing when my vehicle will be delivered and what shape and quality it will be in.
Thanks for reading my rant.

Welcome to a large club. This thread will clearly show how bad it has been. The fact that MBUSA has not supported their customers is snowballing for them. If they admitted more precisely what the issues with each customer order was and gave their best shot at an ETA that would be much better.

All I can say is, as one who ordered first day and has had our car with E-ABC for 4 weeks now, is the wait may be worth it. But, I wouldn’t blame you for jumping ship. The X5 would be my 2nd choice, I believe, but I haven’t looked at them.

There may still be some truth to the saying-"If you buy a JLR product make sure you get them to throw in a Mechanic.". I was considering an F Pace a couple of years ago until I did some research. Mercedes doesn't have great reliability but Land Rover has been terrible. Wouldn't hurt to check out the LR forum and see how users rate them.

Mercedes GLe
I ordered my GLE 300D back in the beginning of December to be built 1st of March, and Delivered in Malta, Beginning of April I was told the GLE was built 3rd week of March pending final inspection (Waiting for missing parts). That was the last update I have. Since than the dealer in Malta same as all the dealers around the world would not give the real reason for the delay. We all know that all these newly built GLE which are not being delivered are parked out side and locked facing all nature elements with hi temperatures during the day up to 33 to 35 degrees centigrade (imagine the temperatures inside the car for a period up to 3 to 4 months what will happen to the leather upholstery and natural wood trim) Is Mercedes going to give us a compensation for getting new cars but have been sitting and parked for how many months in all kinds of Weather.

I think Mercedes knows that they will always have customer for the SUV market. Not matter you hate them or what. So by not committing to a delivery date, they know even you cancel the order some how you order will just drop on to the next lucky buyer that only has to wait for a month for a fully loaded SUV plus mark up. So go ahead cancel it they won’t mind at all.

GLE 450 / E450 Cabriolet
Turning in the wifes Jag XJ today! Worst car we have ever owned, period! It is 3 years old and we only have 13,000 miles on it. Our other two cars are driven 12K-15K miles a year. This Jag is AWD but with all season tires is horrible in any snow and hydroplanes in rain. The windshield is heated and if you wear eyeglasses it is difficult to drive at night. The metal heat bands in the glass reflect all lights, horrible! The technology in this car is a decade behind.

The good news is she gets a new E450 Cabriolet today!

Yup, she was stringing me along. Told me today the car is still sitting idle. I asked her for the NetStar report and she said she'd send it to me but she hasn't. I told the wife is ready to go buy an Audi and unless we start getting some kind of information, we'll end up going elsewhere. It's not so much the waiting that's so frustrating as the lack of information. If they told me, "Hey, it's due to go back into production July 6, but we can't guarantee it," at least that would be something to gauge where we're at.

dumb question

Ok, this is a dumb question, but what does the number under the date on the car sticker mean? On the pictures shown on dealerships that actually have the 450 in stock, all the numbers are low. Are these some of the first ones made?

I got email today from GM, car will be ready for final inspection Jun 6th whatever that mean. So inspection means maybe ? Or just another way of “fail” inspection and push back to the waiting lot again.

They should be able to tell you what ship. My wife E450 Cabriolet came over on the Glovis Caravel and I was able to see the progress using an app called ShipFinder.
