Seriously, I would feel better about it if they kept them in a covered airplane hangar or something. Hopefully they're at least washing them regularly (I doubt it).

production delay/time line

Mine have been parked some where in Alabama since the 25th of March, who knows in which parking and what condition.

And who knows what’s going to happen it might show up missing some options.

Based on what has been reported by others here and in the V167 thread it seems like things are starting to move along in a more normal fashion. Hopefully, I won't have to go through GregW's experience in B4 status.
I hope so, too!

[QUOTE=bigpern23;7771006He asked if I'd be interested in ordering that one and I told him about the one I already ordered from the other dealer in my area. He went into NetStar to check on it and he said I'll have one of the first 450s delivered to New England. He also said that if I still want to stay with the 450 after all this delay, don't do anything that would cause me to lose this car. So that's encouraging, anyway. I figure it should at least be done in the next two months or he would have tried to get me to take the one he has coming in.[/QUOTE]

I assume my car has been produced and it is setting parked somewhere in Tuscaloosa, exposed to heat and humidity and bird droppings. Not exactly how I think a new car should be treated.

I'm not paying a large sum of money for a car that’s sitting on a parking lot for 2 months. Best off luck guys 🤙🏻 Kog out!!!

Don't assume that just because you car has a VIN and "production started," that is it mostly done setting in a field. I believe production "starts" when a pre-made & painted body shell in the ASRS is assigned a VIN. It may in fact not move down the line until they are sure they have all the correct and good parts for it. The ones stored were obviously earlier in the production process before they found out about certain out of spec parts. Take solace in the fact mine was "in production" for 6 weeks and was perfect when it arrived. Hopefully, things are starting to move but you may still be in B4 for a while before moving to D, F and finally S status.

Cars in Parking Lots

Is there any definitive way to know if an ordered car is sitting in a field for weeks/months?

Mine ends in 45000, not a good sign that those ending in 20000 are not delivered!

LOL - my VIN ends 2074x, I've given up looking for it - there's no credible information / communication so it'll get here whenever it gets here.
If it arrives in good condition (no sunburn), no options missing and I haven't already ordered something else then I'll be glad to have it - if not, oh well.

I went from angry to disappointment and now I look at it as an investment, it is what it is.
I believe there are no other SUV can match the tech and value of the new GLE can offer. And we all put in the work and emotion to wait for it might as well see what would happen.

GLE450 Ordered 12/11 Build date Mar 3rd decade, Mar 1st decade, 4/27 now 5/3
MBUSA has a new CEO and the former CEO is leaving the company. I don't know if this has anything to do with the production problems that is affecting our ordered GLE 450's. I hope that his #1 priority is to fix our problem. I am sure that 2nd Qtr earnings will be down and I hope it affects their stock price as added motivation to fix this. Here is a link. https://www.autonews.com/executives/...zs-new-us-boss

Finally, the production has finished. It finished about a week early.
What is RLS to Carrier mean? Does that mean it is already shipped or is it getting ready to shipped?
Does anyone know? I live in San Francisco. Does anyone know how long it will take to arrive here?

Interesting that you have a similar build to mine - third row, AMG exterior - and yours was planned for production in the third decade of May and it’s already complete.

My 450 was planned for production the first decade of March and is still hung up in B4. Makes me wonder if it’s an issue with the engine that’s holding up all these 450s.

I'm not sure how you could draw that conclusion. We heard one report that there were bad electronics in quite a few builds (https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ml#post7736183). If yours was one of those it may be waiting for retrofit, which is a slower process than new builds.

Just wondering out loud. It does seem like there are a lot fewer 450s being released than 350s.

Shipping time

They tell me that it will take about 3 weeks to get the car to Las Vegas. It's probably similar to SF.

Not sure the VIN means anything regarding delivery. Mine is 6455 and I took delivery on 4/18.

I ordered in February, no E-ABC. The delay without any notice of when it might be delivered is maddening.

Ordered mine in Feb. for 1st decade April build. Just today I got assigned a VIN with a production started status. Still don't know if that means anything. Just when I had settled on buying a new full size rover. I'm sure its just MBUSA screwing with me; now it'll probably be another two months of no info. Just when I'm about to get out, they keep pulling me back in.......

Yeah, that's a huge waste of time and, really, an insult.

I had decided to do the td6 HSE; got a really decent deal on one mostly loaded and was just about ready to pull the trigger. Then when I had to run down to Austin for two days, I started thinking about the supercharged v8. Then when I got back today and was going to head to the dealer to pick one and put a fork in it, my MB SA called and told me about the status change on the GLE. Now I am headed to Portland for a week, so I'll see what's what when I get back. I probably would have just stuck with the rover, but the tech is lagging, comparatively speaking, and the electronic gremlins have put me off. However, the wife has a 2014 LR4 and loves it; it has behaved well these last five years, and she's pushing me to get the full size rover. At the end of 2018 I was targeting the cayenne, but man, the value just wasn't there for me. The GLE seemed to have been the most well rounded option, so I ordered one just the way I wanted it. I just can't get it in my driveway. These damned first-world problems of mine.

Skizz, I too was looking at other things (X5), but I have decided to wait on the 450.

While waiting I keep optioning out an X5 and Cayenne to see what the prices are. For what you get, the GLE is a bargain. I’m still holding out...for now.

We were looking really hard at a Land Rover. It was a 4 month wait for delivery. We are gambling that MB will fix their problem and we will get our GLE in the next 4 months...
