2018 E63S wagon, 2016 GLE350d, GLE450 on order

Regarding one forum member's GLE450 order - from the North East - currentlly "scheduled" for October 2nd decade build - that member was thinking to look for a "comparable" GLE450 on the ground now.
I took the opportunity to do some "fact checking" - specifically with his well equipped GLE450 order - based on three of the Key Options - AMG Exterior Package + MBUX Tech Package + Airmatic Suspension:
1. For End-August - 3 rigs were delivered to NE dealers in the past 2 weeks
2. For End-August - 4 rigs show at VPC for NE - all 4 show "Delayedat VPC"
3. For End-August - 2 rigs show "Produced Not Released" with 1 of those 2 already marked "Return to Plant"
4. For End August there are 56 rigs on open order from the NE dealers
Based on this factual info at this - I think it would be reasonable to agree that "not all" of these particular 56 (back-ordered and ordered units) are are going to be delivered this year - right ?
This year both Vance and the Charleston Sprinter factory were changed over to the MB "global manufacturing system" - and for both the GLE and the "new" Sprinter the system change over mucked up the works big time... and frankly no manufacturing system is pre-designed the correct this type of slippage effectively.... damn shame.
At the same time - you have
Frankly - is this extremely uncomfortable backorder situation this year - my opinion is "most" dealers find it "easier" to be dumb - and
1. for the Northeast Region - 56 rigs on open order

Got an email from the dealer: the vehicle has landed in the UK. Will pick it up on Friday 13th September

Also located in the NE area. If my April build order has a production date in the third decade of September, there’s a chance I won’t get it until late this year?

My GLE 450 had an original production date of the first decade of July, which slipped to first decade of August. Was finally completed around the Aug 22nd, and it arrived at the dealer this week. Some of the slippage may have been due to the seats (Exclusive Napa Black/Magma).

Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted but have checked back and love the pics as you lucky dogs take delivery! My SA left the dealer after taking my deposit and never calling me again so I had to stalk the dealer to finally get an update on my mid-June order. It's been (shocker) delayed to 2nd decade of Oct. He thinks it will deliver by Halloween. Here's hoping! I was told it's been a mess all around and the dealership wishes it was better too.
I also unexpectedly moved to the Houston area to care for my 85 yr old mother who's been having some issues so they promise they can deliver the car here from McKinney dealer (and sign papers here) once it comes in.

I was told by my order manager it depends where you're located for delivery time. For Dallas area, he estimates and has seen about a week after production for delivery. Sounds overly optimistic to me after reading this thread for a couple months.

I got the invoice price from edmunds. Just go to their website and search for the 2020 gle. Then click build and price and go through the prompts. It will show you invoice / msrp / and market price for your car in your area.

My SA just let me know that production of my June reorder has slipped another month to 2D of November. It is currently in A4 status (I'm not sure what that means) and it has not yet been assigned a VIN.

I wonder if higher volume dealers get better time limits on orders. It makes no sense that one person who ordered the same model in the same month as another person but from different dealer gets his order on time but the other gets delayed. Or maybe it is just luck?!

That doesn’t seem to matter. Both of my orders were build allocations the dealer already had (the first one they had spec’d out themselves and it fit our needs. The second one they had for September and I was able to claim it and choose the options myself).

"MERCEDES GLE and GLS SUVS WITH DELIVERY PROBLEMS ON THE HEAP
Mercedes is currently struggling with quality problems with the new GLS (X167) and GLE (V167), the vehicles are not currently delivered according to insider information. In the production of the two SUVs at the US plant in Tuscaloosa, it has become apparent that the specifications for two suppliers do not meet the requirements of the car manufacturer. According to a report from the Handelsblatt, these are problems with the front apron of SMP and the seating system of Lear.
A total of around 40,000 models are on heap that have already been produced but are not delivered. In Germany alone, there are 9,000 vehicles on the 2.5-kilometer runway at Alhorn Airport in the district of Oldenburg. The parked models will be retrofitted at the factory in Bremen. It is said that current orders will be produced in December 2019 and delivered in the second quarter of 2020 at the earliest.
In addition to the two SUVs are still more models such as S- and E-Class and CLS on the site. Mercedes told Radio Bremen : 'Together with our proven and new suppliers, we have implemented measures to meet the challenges. We are working hard to ensure that our customers receive their new vehicle as quickly as possible.' "
Also responding to auto motor und sport, Mercedes has made the following statement: 'So there were initially bottlenecks at suppliers. Together with our proven and new suppliers, we have implemented measures to meet the challenges - automotive engineering is team sport. We work hard to ensure that our customers receive their new vehicle as quickly as possible. Individual agreements have been made with customers regarding the delivery of their new vehicle in order to best support their individual mobility. 'The temporary storage of vehicles is a completely normal process, there are logistics areas worldwide, those used by Mercedes-Benz Cars as part of a planned process for the interim storage of vehicles, among other things for the subsequent worldwide transport. "The number 40,000 is wrong. It is clearly excessive. The factory in Tuscaloosa is producing normally again. Basically, however, we do not give any information about the number of vehicles that are temporarily stored, which incidentally is a normal procedure during a startup.' "
