Poor business decision by Mercedes not to clean it up first. Is it possible that it came through a big storm getting it dirty? I've seen some in the west that were covered with road dirt and some with a foot of snow on top.

I have not taken delivery. That was how it came in. It has been washed and looks much better, but still looks like may have some issues. I had an E350 delivered 12 years ago from a California dealer. I am in Louisiana, A lot closer to Tuscaloosa than California. I took it off the truck in much better condition than this. I guess I am just leery because it has been outside in the elements since April and to me this just shows how little care there has been for these cars in the interim.

2020 GLE 53 AMG
What's the typical timeline for delivery once a car goes into production?

I have a 2020 GLE 53 AMG on order and it's scheduled to go into production in the last week of September.

However, I still don't have pricing available which is very unusual IMO. I'm not confident the production date will actually happen on time.

My GLE450 went into production 8/28 with scheduled prod complete date of 9/8 (yesterday)
My dealer called this morning that the car is already here. Looks like things are moving ahead for a change. To answer your question, dealer originally anticipated 2 weeks after production for car to arrive.

There is nothing "typical" about the recent production timelines, so that is hard to say. Also depends on where you are (add to your profile), because delivery can run from a few days to 3 weeks in the US. Yes, pricing should be available that close to production, but again, it's hard to say given the disarray seen in MBUSI/USA of late.

So I am trying to decide whether to take the first GLE I ordered (which the dealer has) that has been hanging out in the elements since April, or I have another order that says 10/D1/19 production. In the notes it says 7/25 priority set to 1. I know all of this is very unpredictable, but does that sound like it will be here in October? Does “priority set to 1” mean anything that would help get this delivered quickly? I am trying to see if I go for the bird in the hand and take the piecemeal GLE or wait. Many thanks for any help.

I think Priority Level 1 just means it's a customer sold unit, which should help but is not a guarantee of rapid production and delivery. While disconcerting, the possibility your current order sat in the elements is not the end of the world. But, if the battery ran down, if there was bird droppings on the paint, etc. those could be issues. Hard call - I would ask the dealer to give it a first class detail job and inspect it. Not sure what kind of deal you had, but I would push for at least 5% off MSRP or some other perk.

Both my March order and my June order are marked priority 1. There's no word on the March order, and the June order's production date has slipped twice, a month each time, from September to November. I don't think priority 1 means what Mercedes thinks it means.

Thanks Greg. Your response is helpful for me.

I'm located in Toronto, Canada so I would suspect it would take a little longer for me.

My early April build order which had a third decade September production date is now delayed to 10/20/19. Anyone have an idea what this means going from a third decade build date to a specific date (if it even means anything)?

Cavansite Blue with regular black interior. Went with RWE wheel, not sure about the tire size I hope it will be something wide like the other 21” option

Either they were mistaken, or maybe they've been moved/pulled back into production sometime soon?
On the way back from vacation (thanks, Dorian, for the early exit), we stopped in Bessemer again.
We asked our bartender why we didn't find any GLEs in the lot at the old mall.
They said that they WERE there, but it's not a great part of town, and 2-3 of them were stolen.

Imagine having your order canceled because the car was stolen, but they didn't tell you that.

Sounds like the GLE in this video should have been delayed longer for repairs!

So I took delivery yesterday. I got about 5 miles from the dealership entering a local expressway, when I heard the two quick beeps, look down and I am receiving notifications that all of the driver assist features (the "safety" features) are coming up as inoperative - - blind spot, lane keeping, active distance, yada, yada. So, I had to turn around and go back to the dealer. I was skeptical before because this was an earlier build that sat around for 5 months, but now I have NO FAITH IN THIS VEHICLE. With all of the lack of transparency from MBUSA, I am just over it. Has anyone else had this? Should I be worried?
So then I do research and see this: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...9V540-8664.pdf and https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...9V540-2034.pdf Does it sound like this is what is at issue? Any clue?

That's a terrible feeling in a brand new vehicle. I'm at 500 miles on mine and its been flawless. I'm sure they will tracking down the issue, what you posted seems like a potential cause. Good luck!

My 2012 would do this intermittently sometimes after it had been dirty (dirt or snow) - it was almost as if dirt found its way into one of the sensors. Most of the time restarting the car would fix it temporarily - going through the car was always seemed to clear it up.
Saw this more frequently in the winter. I hope this is a 'one and done' for you.

Well my wait ended today - in w/ the 2016, out w/ the long awaited 2020.
Mine was one of the first orders for this vehicle - it was supposed to have been here end or March - I think that car is still sitting in Alabama somewhere.
Dealership was in the dark as to why and suggested reordering in May. That car should have been here end of Sept but this one showed up last week w/ almost exactly the same equipment so I took it.

450/ e-abc / night (had ordered sport but kind of liking this), acoustic comfort, comfort, premium, tech, intelligent driver packages, soft close doors, heated windshield, roller blinds + some other stuff.
Hope it will be as reliable (and enjoyable) as it's predecessors.

You guys here helped take the edge off the wait - thank you.

Those sensors often stop working when it’s snowing etc., that’s normal.
