Extended warranty
True they are not 100% electrically driven but the warranty does not make that distinction.

It could boil down to how well the service department codes the problem and replacement.
It would be nice to get a definitive to answer sooner than later though.

"Warranty" means that it's covered by the manufacturer, not an Insurance Company.
Insurance companies don't provide warranties, they provide "breakdown insurance," where you pay the Insurance Company to "share" part of the risk (the definition of Insurance). The amount of risk they share ("coverage") is determined by the package you buy. They are more often written as "inclusionary," meaning if it's not named, it's not covered.
With the M-B "exclusionary warranty," if LED's aren't mentioned, they are covered --- UNLESS they would be grouped as "consumables" or "wear items," like oil, brake fluid or brake pads. I don't see lighting as consumable or a wear item.
Is there another "group" that lighting might be part of that is named in the ELW coverage?
We extended the factory warranty on our 2003 C240 and the left HID ballast went out at 80,000 miles, 6 years in, and it was easily covered. About $800. HID isn't LED, and that was a different "era," but I'd think lighting is still "lighting." They also replaced a brake light bulb, FWIW.
