Is the Speed Limit Assist worth getting?
I did have a question about the Speed Limit Assist feature. Is this the same as the Traffic Sign Assist feature? Because on the MBUSA site, if you go to the features, both names are listed for the same feature albeit with different definitions. Traffic Sign Assist says it can detect posted speed-limit signs and a "disclaimer" says the Speed Limit Assist says it does not read the signs.
I know in the past in the United States, this feature did not read the signs and solely used the data stored in the navigation maps for the speed limit. So I guess my main question is if that has changed for the 2020 GLE models?
I'm debating whether or not to get the feature as a standalone option (I'm not getting the Driver Assist + package either so it's not something I would use to compliment that).
Thanks in advance!

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control adapts the vehicle's cruising speedin response to the flow of traffic, while Active Speed Limit Assist detects posted speed-limit signs and automatically adjusts the vehicle's cruising speed accordingly.
On my GLE I have the Driver Assist and it reads the speed limit signs very well but it’s not perfect. For example, it read an 80 as a 60 so that might be an abrupt and unwanted “Assist” as you slowed dramatically in traffic. I thought mine was supposed to adjust to the speed limit but it doesn’t do that. I can set any speed like with any other Cruise Control. That could change with an update to the system.
I wonder if it even works now? You get Traffic Signs a feature I like and the way they are displayed is very useful. My only question is do you really want your car to adjust to speed limit signs even if it works now. In my experience it’s safer to drive the speed of other traffic and that is normally 5 over the posted.
I have referenced the mercedes dashboard speed limit a few times regardless of these factors. I do not use the auto speed limit feature. Only you can decide if it's worth the $295.

The adaptive cruise should keep you a safe distance behind a vehicle in front of you, but shouldn’t slow you down if the road ahead is clear.
