I got something similar even though I had Java installed. Mine updated the next day OTA so didn’t pursue it. There was an old post, maybe June where someone solved this-maybe by reinstalling Java several times. I tried a search but can’t find it again.

I got that message and just ignored it. Install completed perfectly. To update everything at once, you will need a 32gb flash drive. I only had a 16gb available and had to do it in two steps.

On My PC right click on the USB icon and click format. Choose the type you need from the drop down menu.

You should be able to just right click on the thumb drive in Windows Explorer, choose "Format" and select.
Took over 2 hours to download onto memory stick, anyone have an idea how long it will take to upload to car.
North America map takes about 1/2 hour. Advice is to use battery tender. Even so, COMAND "went to sleep" a few minutes before completion, but when you restart COMAND it continues applying the update from where it was.

Took 45 minutes to update, went from 2018 V7 to 2019 V10.2, restarted system but when you look in system information for Nav it shows both versions. I would have thought 2018 V7 would have disappeared.

When you check in the Mercedes Me portal now, does it show you current for all available regions? If not, you might have missed one. If you are current, I wouldn't worry about it.

Loaded the updates tonight (19 Gb). It took about 35 minutes. It seemed to go smoothly. Hoping it has the new Seattle tunnel on it as we leave for there Thursday.

We were just in Seattle and it knows about the tunnel. But there's a lot of construction going on on the waterfront that it's not up on yet. If you take a ferry from downtown, use Google Maps because the temporary access to the ferry docks is a mess and not well mapped in the MB.
Greg is the previous version showing in the menu as well as the new version.
I just checked mine. "Details" shows the previous version (V12) as well as current (V16) because the satellite images are carried over from the previous version. The Europe maps might not work the same way as North America but it makes sense that there are datasets (like satellite imagery) that are not as dynamic as road and POI data.

Follow the traffic when you get off. Even Maps was confused when we did that. It said to turn right on Alaska (which eventually got us to I-5) but it would have been faster to go left. COMAND had no idea what to do.
So basically it looks like that I will have to stick to phone app maps in order to have current routing. Which means the overlays imposed for turn directions will not be available

The COMAND routing (with up-to-date maps) is quite reasonable. Google Maps or Waze is better only in areas currently under construction. On a 3,000 mile road trip the Seattle waterfront was really the only place that COMAND was lost. I tend to use the phone on highways for the speed trap warnings and COMAND around town, where the turn directions are more important. It would be great if you could have both going simultaneously, and toggle between them. For some reason, COMAND kills its routing if Maps is routing. No idea why.
