2011 G55 AMG
I'm selling my Nokian's that have less than 3000 miles on them. Had them 2 seasons but sold the G last month. If you're interested, please send me a message. Thanks.

I'd like to know what are you all looking at installing? My RZV rims came with 275/50R20 tires.
I usually run narrower tires in winter to reduce the risk of aquaplaning; and it also helps in snow. But considering how well winter tire compound and tread design (blocks and sipes) have improved just in the last ten years,it may no longer be necessary.
  1. So far, I am leaning toward the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 which should be better than the Blizzak WS-80. It also appears as the the clear Price/Performance winner.
  2. Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 is the best winter tire out there, but is one of the most expensive on the market along with their Hakkapeliitta 9.
  3. Gislaved Nord*Frost 200 is also very good, but harder to find.

My criteria are how good is traction in wet, slush, ice, and hard packed snow.
Deep snow is less of an issue in the city, and when gettin out of snow banked parking spaces, the 4Matic and careful application of the throttle will get me out no problem.
I'm selling my Nokian's that have less than 3000 miles on them. They have lots of tread left. If you're interested, let me know. I just posted them for sale a few days ago.

The only impact of the AMG package is that the rims must be at least 20" d. because of the larger front brake rotors. I am using W166 wheels and have custom ordered lugs so I will let Ron or others comment on the Tire Rack supplied lug bolts.

Thank you, but it's a 7.5h non-stop drive to New Jersey from Montreal.
I will pick something up locally. Goods luck with sale.

‘Funny coincidence but I just got a call from Charlie (Tire Rack) this morning. I had asked about longer bolts for spacers and as we were talking he was unaware of the AMG package and larger brakes, offset wheels. He was getting with someone else to see if they have overlooked anything but said that they normally measure fitment on an actual car. The E_ABC package could be something they missed since so few are out there. They will stand behind any mistake so I’m not overly concerned. I would stay away from the lower offsets like et32. I went et45 on an 8 1/2” wheel so should be safe but will have wheels recessed about 3/4’more than stock in front but might not even notice. After all it’s winter and hard to keep things clean anyway. It will be 3 weeks before I get home to install mine.

Winter tires

Just picked up my Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV 275/50R20 113V tires from Costco. Took only 10 days to get them in. Nice looking tire with lots of sipes. Not sure I will test their 149 mph rated limit, but nice to know I could (in my dreams)! I'll have my wheel guy mount them on the 20x9 twin 5-spoke wheels from my '12 ML this Friday. Will be using 12mm spacers in the rear to perfectly match OEM offsets.

It is slightly different - the earlier pic (from the Tire Rack website) showed 2 center grooves. I'm not sure if the design has changed or if it is different in different sizes.

Winters

Mounted up and ready to go. Unless I drive over to Central Oregon I don't expect to put them on for another month.

Nice wheels Henry....you will be ready to roll when your GLE arrives!

My Michelin P5 tires have been waiting for me for almost 3 weeks but I’ve been gone and waiting for Center Caps and Black stud bolts. Luckily my AM wheels take a 75mm center cap so the black ones I bought on Amazon fit perfectly. Bolts arrive soon so I will decide on black or silver...probably will go with the black. Here’s a pic of my 8 1/2” X 20 et 45 wheels.

Are you going to use spacers on the front since stock offset is 55.5, or you think that's close enough?

19" DM-V2 Blizzak's on rims were mounted today at my dealer. Bolts from Tirerack worked perfectly. I will post pics later.

I take it you do not have the AMG-Line exterior with the larger brake rotors? Also, what are your tire measurements?

‘I think my front offset is 57, rear 44 with the 20” AMG. I am going to see how everything looks and then decide on spacers. I doubt that the bolts I am getting are long enough for 1/2” spacers. Hope I can wait until more AM stud bolts show. In a way a narrower stance may be more practical in winter since I don’t have mud guards. Might get less gravel hitting the lower trim below the door....I already have a small chip on the passenger side.

Are those rims from Tirerack (they look similar to the 21" MSW rim that have)? I've been looking at snow tire/rim packages from them, but was waiting until someone had actually used them. I have the AMG exterior (with 21" now) so I assume I need to go with the 20" rim.

Interestingly, while those look similar to AMG 21s they are actually 15-spoke vs. 14.

.
I just ordered Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUVs: 275/45R21 Front and 315/40R21 in Rear. Will have the dealer mount them on stock RWB wheels and store the All Season tires for me too.

The 8.5" OEM fronts are 55.5, vs. 57 for the 9.0s.

But isn’t that for the non AMG with a different body....less fender flare? I’ll know Saturday how they line up after install, assuming my Lug Bolts arrive tomorrow.

I think the offsets are less tied to body style than proper suspension geometry.

It has to be Cosmetic to some extent or the offset would be changed more for Air vs Springs. Example-The difference in offset of a 1/2” wheel width is 12.7mm or 6.35mm each side. My et57 would need to be et50.65 to maintain the tire center position if my math is correct!

Note that the non-AMG R77 21s have the same offsets as the AMG RWA 21s. Offsets are not body or suspension specific.
