.
He was posting a review of the tires on his 2016 GLE though, so not the same issue with fitment as our v167 models?

QUOTE=tinman831;7905832]Ron. Did you ever get those mud flaps?[/QUOTE]

AMG body without running boards-here they are and they look factory (probably are!) and should fit perfectly. These are gently pushed in place so show a gap or two. Ordered on Nov 1 from Amazon so 17 days & $80...

There is a package of installation hardware so might take a look at install tomorrow or Wednesday. Might have to pull the wheels.

Blame it on the MonDAZE. I should have recognized the bottom valance crease of the W166 and the lack of fender flare add-on of the V167 in the image.

2016 GLE 350d
Sorry for the confusion I have a 2016. Did order a 2020 GLE 450 and when it came in I just didn't love a few things about it and decided to wait another year and in the meantime enjoy my 350d a bit more. Its paid for and giving me zero problems and amazing fuel economy. Barely broken in and still under full warranty until May. This is the one I ordered in...

Winters on

Installed my Winter setup today, as colder temps expected this week. As previously posted, these are the 20x9s from my 2012 ML, custom painted Lamborghini gray with a little silver added; tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV. With 12 mm spacers in the rear they perfectly match stock offsets for this size. I did discover these wheels take a larger center cap than the 2020. Despite their age, I think they look pretty good for Winters?

These wheels weigh 76.5#. My AMG 21s with 6,900 mi. & 9/32" tread (10/32" new) weigh 68.2#F & 75.0# R, which considering their size, is pretty light. Also pretty good there has only been 1/32" tread wear.

Thanks - I like it. 1/4 acre and larger lots and a lot of older trees.

Got my winter wheels installed yesterday.

Big Hat tip to Ron.s for shipping me the bolts! Tire Rack wouldn't sell them to me if I didn't buy my winter set from them and OTIS was going to charge me $90 USD for the bolts + $70 USD for shipping + the taxes and duties. Ron.s came through big time! He even rushed out during rush hour to make sure it got shipped before the cutoff time. Everything came packed super good! Can't thank Ron enough!

Wheel Specs = 20 x 8.5" +35 offset
Tires = 275/50R20 Michelin PA5 SUV

The offset is aggressive, but it looks good. The 21" OEM wheel offset is already more aggressive.

The offset on the front wheels matches the existing GLE53 "poke" perfectly (to the mm), the rear is in about 17 mm vs stock.

However, because the wheel is more narrow, the bulge on the tire causes it to stick out past the face of the wheel much more.
As a result the front actually sticks out more than stock. So the front tire looks like it would touch the fender if the vehicle could actually go that low.
The rear ends up looking pretty "flush" considering it's 17mm more inwards than stock, because the bulging tire fills the gap.

Drove my GLE450 last night in 6 inches of snow, wearing 20" MSW rims from tirerack with Blizzak DM-2 tires. It was a beast.

SUV came with 21" rims, so I think it would have been a sled with those wide all-season tires in the rear.

I'm running Nokian Hakkapeliitta's on my GLE. I have 20" AMG wheels for summer but run 18" 2015 ML wheels on the snow tires. I lived in Russia for four years and the Nokian tires made me a believer.

I ran Nokian's on my SAAB's decades ago. Amazing in the snow.

If snow/ice performance is your #1 priority, Hakka's are going to be one of the very best for sure.

For me, 90% of my winter driving is going to be on wet, salted and clear roads, so wet/dry handling is more important for me than ultimate ice/snow performance.

We recently had 4" of snow with ice pellets, roads were really slick. My Michelin Pilot Alpin PA5 SUV had zero issues, even in deeper snow that had bunched up to 7-8". Been pretty happy with the tires so far!

Same here. That's why I went with the Michelins. Haven't used mine in snow yet, so good to know.

Who’s TPMS sensors did you end up using? If they were an oem part do you know the part number. I purchased some oem ones but they may not be compatible with the 53?

The wheel shop used some aftermarket ones. They work fine for me for tire pressure and temperature.

I ended up returning the new oem tpms sensors (new shape) because they would not properly mount to the inside of my aftermarket Vossen wheels according to my dealer. I ended up with aftermarket sensors that cloned the oem Id’s.

Winter wheels/tires

Finally put mine on for the season yesterday. No snow/ice in the forecast here in the valley, but we're headed over the mountains to Central Oregon after Christmas through New Years. Will finally get to use the PA5s in the snow. KJ's report on these a year ago gives me confidence they will be good.

I put the Alpine 5 on my vehicle a month ago and yesterday Pittsburgh was hit with the Nor'easter going up the coast. Drove through 7-8 inches of snow fine and even through the packed deeper crude the snowplow leaves at top of the driveway. Thanks for the recommendation

Can't beat the winters of Newfoundland Canada, the way we float around 0 and black ice and than amount of snow, the winter of Newfoundland can put any winter tires for run of their life.
I am using Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 on W166ML350BT 2015 and size is 19 inch.
they are performing like a charm
