What are you paying for Wheel and Tire insurance

Making a deal on a 2020 GLE 350 on a 36 month lease. Was quoted $2595. I told them that was too high. They said cost was $2195 and they said they would go $2195. Does that sound right? Seems high but was wondering what others were paying.
Thanks

I don’t have any idea of cost but there was a post about the pricing on Service Contracts and a dealer discounting them. As I recall there are price advantages to a volume seller. You might do a search.
My bigger question is why buy it? My guess is that one tire and wheel would cost less. I have never curbed a wheel or blown a tire so I am well ahead of the game vs buying that insurance. My Auto Policy covers theft.

Are you kidding? I have 21” rims on a 2015 GL 550. I have wheel and tire. It’s paid for 2 rims and 4 tires and I can’t tell you how many curb rash repairs. The finance guy at my local MB dealer told me the GL 550 is the worst for rim damage. Anyway I’ve paid for the insurance 4 times over with repairs/replacements. If you have 19” wheels it’s not as bad. But if you have a road hazard you don’t have to add it to your auto insurance. To me it’s worth it. That’s why I’m asking.
Thanks

Pretty good. Better than mine. for 48 months of coverage my Wheel and Tire replacement cost me $2208.00. I never ever get this insurance, but my gut told me to get it this time around. I am on 21 inch wheels wrapped in Michelins and the rear tires are wider than my fronts.. I figure I'll get my monies worth.

Seeing your price I should of asked for more of a discount lol.

Insurance is always a gamble but with 21’s I can tell you it doesn’t take much to pop a sidewalk or crack a rim. And st around $1k or more per rim and about $400 or more per tire it won’t take many issues to pay for itself.
May your price that’s $552 per year. My price per year is $732 per year (3 year lease) so I’d say you did better than you think.

none waiting on my GLE in TX
I've never heard of tire insurance. Two questions:

1. Is there a deductible?
2. Does it cover normal wear and tear?

Thank you!

Wow....you are unlucky or have a lot of bad roads. The Mercedes 21 is a large tire with a decent amount of sidewall.

Try this guy maybe-he was close to 30% off on maintenance contracts.

1. No deductible
2. Does not cover normal wear and tear

Hit a pothole and bend a rim. If they can’t fix it they will replace it.
Scuff a rim they repair it.
Hit a sidewall and blow a tire they replace it

I'd say you can just refer to it as wheel insurance as how often would tires be damaged? I drive around NYC for nearly 20 years, only once I had a damaged tire because I drove into a crater. And we have the worst roads and potholes here. Moreover there is an important exclusion from the coverage: "Damage caused by road conditions (such as uneven lanes or metal plates) found in construction zones or construction sites". Essentially you are probably just getting good coverage for scuffs and scratches which you will inevitably get. That however means that you would have to leave the car probably once a year for a few days for all 4 rims to be repaired and the rental coverage they give you is max 2 days and $100, I can't even get a bicycle rental for that money here lol.

My dealer usually asks if I hit a pothole or curb and I say yes. They actually help me to get coverage for a new tire or rim whichever the case may be. I usually have them repair the curb rash when I go in for service. Again I have had 4 tires replaced under the W & T insurance. MY GL has 21's. The GLE I'm looking at has 19's Most likely less apt to do as much damage to the 19's.

Just purchased it for my 450. The dealer I purchased the car from in North Carolina offered an MBUSA contract of 60 months for $1,600. We wound up purchasing it through our local dealer for $1,800, which uses a third-party and gave us the flexibility to use the protection at any dealership nationwide, not just Mercedes. This seemed worth it since a few years ago, we got a flat while on vacation in New Hampshire and the nearest MB dealership was 2 hours away.

Coverage is basically the same, except there's no limit on the number of claims and no exclusion for curb impacts.

As a side note, we purchased the protection after buying the vehicle. The local dealership did not require a visual inspection. MB of Asheville didn't either (of course, they already knew what it looked like). I also contacted Tafel Motors, as suggested on this forum, but they would not sell it unless it was bought at the time of vehicle purchase.
