high-pitched whistling sound

I purchased a 2020 GLE350 a few months ago. Has anyone else noticed a whistling sound outside the drivers window when driving above 70mph? I don't hear it at lower speeds but once I get on the highway, I can certainly hear it. It's not overwhelming but certainly noticeable and annoying. I had a 2017 GLE and this was not an issue. I didn't order the acoustic comfort package but I didn't think I would hear so much noise outside the window on a $70,000+ car.

Mine is 350D, same experience as yours. My car went to dealer yesterday and they will test the car to see whether they can replicate the issue.

Thanks for the response. Please let me know what the dealer says. I'm sure we are not the only ones.

I have not noticed any wind noises. There is cabin buffeting with the driver's window down or partway down.

Yea, I have noticed that as well and fully expect it. However, what I'm talking about is the windows fully up and hearing a whistling noise coming from outside the vehicle on the driver's side.

Understood, just saying nothing like that on mine.

I agree with you. Mine has it as well. They kept the vehicle for a month and supposedly they fixed it. The sound is back and it drives me insane among the rattle around headliner and Around the back of my driver seat.

They kept if for a month? Wow! What did they end up doing/replacing?

They replaced the side mirror, it made the sound lower, but now it is back again. The other thing I am dealing with is the jerky transmission. I hate how it is not smooth at all, hoping they fix that issue.

Btw, they had to fly someone in from out of state to solve the issue. They opened a case for it, just not sure how to know for sure if they did open a case or not.

I have a 450, and have EXACTLY the same issue, which drives me crazy.

On my old 2001 BMW E38 740i, I remember people having the same car mentioning a similar issue. Noise that seemed to come from the windshield area. It turned out there was a loose piece of trim in the underbody that resonated through the body and A-pillar. Might be worth looking into.

The side mirror was my suspect as well. Not sure how replacing it with the exact part would fix. I contacted the dealership I purchased from to raise the issue. Maybe they have already dealt with it. I bet its quite common and most people don't realize it. If you have music on at all you won't hear it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm open to looking at anything. However, it doesn't seem to be emanating from the windshield area but I could be wrong.

I have the same issue, but i've also had annoying wind noises on my last 2 cars as well (07 g35x, 13 gs350). At this point, unless someone here has a clear fix, I try to ignore it before starting up a storm with the dealer.

I have the exact same issue. It definitely get annoying. I feel like it is coming from where the door meets the frame but hard to say. I will mention it when I take the car for a regular service but they will probably ignore it.

Thanks for responding. Let's all keep each other posted on a possible fix.

I had a different car years ago. The whistling sound turned out to be roof rail crossbars.

I got my car back. They replaced the door trim and seal. The issue still exits.

Same here. What is the alternative? What did they tell you at the dealership? Please keep me update as I have been dealing with this since August.
thanks

Was this part of a recall that was recently released?

It is not part of the recall. The dealer is in south part of London and they are not close to the motorway, so they replaced the parts and let me test it.
I also experienced wired sound when the fan is open. They replaced the air blow, engine mounts and two other parts, the sound is significantly reduced but still exits.

Just wondering, do you have the larger moonroof on your vehicles? In y prior car that was the culprit.

FYI, my car doesn't have panorama sunroof, and have the same issue.
