high-pitched whistling sound

I purchased a 2020 GLE350 a few months ago. Has anyone else noticed a whistling sound outside the drivers window when driving above 70mph? I don't hear it at lower speeds but once I get on the highway, I can certainly hear it. It's not overwhelming but certainly noticeable and annoying. I had a 2017 GLE and this was not an issue. I didn't order the acoustic comfort package but I didn't think I would hear so much noise outside the window on a $70,000+ car.

Elaborate on the buy back or the return of your GLE450 please! I am very interested. I have nothing but problems with my GLE350. I have been using the the 2020 GLC300 and it feels a whole lot more refined than the GLE. I would definitely trade.

On by GLE450, it started with a check engine light, that gave several defect codes. I took it back to the dealer on Aug 30, and kept it until Dec 5 stating the issued could not be resolved. Bottom line they change many parts searching for a solution. Did not want the car back due to the issues discovered. I purchased the car in August 2019 and three weeks later the issue started with the check engine light. Take a look at the thread and it will give you the entire issues others had also.

No money was lost, they paid me my down payment minus the mileage I put on the car. In the end I was not out of anything. It was a long drawn out process tho. In all about 6-8 weeks

I have the same problem. It's happened a couple times in a specific situation. Driving at highway speed, 60 mph.
As a strong gust of wind gust came in from the front drivers side, I can hear a whistle sounding like someone blowing air over a 2-liter plastic bottle.
Mentioned it to the dealer...car checked and nothing found. Frustrating.

Often this is the result of an air leak caused by a faulty window seal. To find/determine if you have a leak, roll up all the windows, turn on the A/C to max, and spray a water soap mixture on the windows where they roll up into the door frame. Then look for bubbles caused by air escaping from the inside. If you see bubbles you found your leak, and you can have the dealer dealer fix it.

My 2020 450 GLE is also making the whistling noise. They have replaced seals etc. and still has noise. My dealer (Tyler, TX) said that they don't know how to fix it but they are aware of the problem at corporate. I will not drive it because it drives me crazy. It's my wife's car and doesn't bother her. Sad to pay so much for a car and have to listen to wind noise. My Cadillacs never did this.

Go to almost any car forum and you will have these posts - more about problems than the good. Since one initial issue, NO problems including wind whistles and key issues in the last 6 months/6k miles.

yes that is true but this 2020 seems like its having many first year issues. could be worse i guess but it doesn't make the decison any easier to spend that kind of money. I test drove a 580 and it was nice but not totally convinced it's best in class.

I have almost zero issues so far with mine, and its an excellent machine. Pretty much every small nag I have is software stuff. The built quality is great, the vehicle is beautiful, and extremely comfortable.

Welcome to Melanie from Tyler TX - kind of funny to me..
With the quiet cabin of the GLE - "wind noise" audibly can seem more dramatic than it is - but audible perception is audible reality - similar in level to having a dash vent closed when climate control fan is 5/6.
For customers who report this issue - we choose to use a Honda silicone product - tech uses a vinyl glove and applies the product lightly-but-evenly on the full front door seals - kindof "rub it in a bit"
In this application the Honda silicone lube works better for us than the MB Krytox "oil" - and better than GumiPhl.. the silicone lube will reduce wind noise - and so far has not needed a 2nd application

From the video, the noise seems to start at about 180 kph or 108 mph. Is this been your experience? This will be my wife's car and I doubt 100+ mph is going to be seen much.

What the reviewer in that video experiences is not even close to what we hear in our GLE. Ours is just a whistiling, not really loud, but enough to be annoying. It's almost as if the window was down a tiny crack. That howl that he heard in the video doesn't sound like a window/door issue - that's something else entirely... almost like something in the hood is loose and making a noise like a loud car horn. Our whistling is only at regular highway speeds (so around 100 km/h / 60 mph) and actually not all the time - it seems to only be when the wind is quite high and hitting the vehicle from certain directions. Others may have slightly different experiences, but it's NOTHING like what he hears in that video.
