I got a very nice Mercedes emblem for our Fobs from the Dealer but don’t want the extra crap in my pocket. It looks nice but is not practical, IMO. I just have the Fob and my wife the same. My daughter has a leather Honda case for her Honda with a Honda emblem, she likes how it’s easier to find in her purse. I carry two Fobs most of the time so that’s enough for one pocket anyway.

I usually use two layers of leather with a thickness of over 1mm, so it doesn't affect the key signal.
There are also more than 30 colors to choose from, allowing you to match the leather with your car color, stitching color, or other accessories.

This thread reminds me that a guy from my Mercedes dealership told me that it was a very good idea to protect my key because if it fell, it could be damaged and replacing it was very expensive.
I also hate having keys in my pocket. I recently started using a dual Chamber carabiner (see link) because I lost a house key using a small regular Keychain-type of carabiner, the house key must have fallen out when I removed the car key for valet.
With the dual Chamber carabiner, I put my car key into the 2nd chamber as the last key so it makes it very easy to remove it for valet parking. It's very minimal in size.

I have a white TPU one on mine. Doesn't really add any bulk. I had originally got one in black and silver to match the fob's colors and one in white for the spare key. I liked the white so much that I used it on my main key.

I am frustrated that I have to carry my key with me. Our other car, the BMW can be opened by touching my smartphone to the door handle, and then it can be started by placing the phone on the charging pad. No need for a key fob whatsoever. If you worry about the phone battery dying, there are 2 solutions. First Apple keeps enough reserve on the iphone battery that even after the phone turns off, it can be used as a key. Secondly, BMW provides a credit card sized key that can be tapped on the door to open, and placed on the phone charging pad to start the vehicle. Come on Mercedes!! Keep up!!

I don’t understand the frustration of having to carry a key. We have been carrying keys forever. You can’t tell me that having to take your phone out of your pocket, tapping the door handle, Then putting it on a charging pad, where it can fly away if you make a sudden stop is more convenient than having to do none of that stuff. I would never totally trust the phone as a key.

We do a lot of things on our phones now like tap to pay vs cash and credit cards, stream music vs CDs, take pictures vs camera, Google maps vs paper maps, boarding passes vs printed tickets, etc. Nothing wrong with letting it do one more thing if it's capable.

The more we put on our smart phone, the more we become handcuffed to it. Before you know it, if we ever lost it, broke it, or it crashed permanently, we would be S.O.L.
It’s a great idea for a backup, but there is something to be said for keys separate from a phone.
