I custom ordered a GLE but never added the illuminated front star. Picked up car last night and found out wife likes the lit up Mercedes star. I just went on eBay and only see ones for $400 OEM. All the less expensive knock-offs are for earlier models. Does anyone have a link to an inexpensive illuminated star for the 2020 GLE?

I haven’t seen one for the new GLE yet but just confirming you do not have the distronic package?

No I don't have distronic. Wish I would have ordered the star with the car because it's a lease so with the residual, I only pay half the cost of the options over the term of the lease. But installing after purchase means I pay the full cost. That's why I'm thinking of getting after-market but I don't really want to do the install. Hopefully it's easy

Swapping out the star is easy. The wiring is going to be the most tricky part.

Thanks guys for the help. I just went ahead and ordered the OEM star and wiring harness. Now I just have to figure out how to install. Do you think a 3rd party mechanic can do it for me? What's a reasonable price?

It comes off easy, just press and turn.

I'm not worried about removing the star, it's connecting the wiring harness that I'm hesitant about

You are going to have a "problem" - since Mercedes has not released any instructions on how to add the harness/Star to the 2020 GLE...

My tech's were trying to work out a install the other day... frankly it's a b*tch and they did not Video the process.. sorry !

That sucks, i already spent $400 buying the OEM star and harness. If I had known that I probably would have just skipped the whole thing.

You can still wire it in to come on with the headlights. It just won’t be integrated like stock with the ability to turn it on and off in the menus.

Hi, were you able to get the star and install it on your car. I was initially going to do it but now thinking about waiting for some time. Just wanted to see what was your experience

I think the $400 Star on eBay is correct part and price is pretty close to what dealers charge. I was quoted around $450 by dealer for the part and around $400 for the install.
