Homelink losing rolling code

I've had my car less than 2 months and so far Homelink has forgotten the rolling code on my garage door twice. I have 2 doors programmed and the second door doesn't have the issue, only the door where I actually park the car.

Has anyone else had this issue with the 2020 GLE? I searched the forums and all I could come up with was some issues in 2010 with the e class.

I'm sure this is not the cause of your problem but it's interesting information and something that's good to keep in mind. I recently had 2 new garage door openers installed and as usual, I switched the bulbs to LED's. That's when the problem started. I could not get the remotes to operate from any distance or with any regularity using either the supplied remote or the Homelink. When I spoke to the installer he said that several people have had similar problems when they were using LED bulbs in the garage door opener. I then switched the bulbs back to tungsten filament bulbs and everything worked great on both doors. He told me that somehow the LED bulbs interfered with the signal and created the problem. He also said that this may not occur with all openers but apparently my units are of the kind that are sensitive to this. FYI

Had the same happen to me when I got a new opener. There are GDO compatible LED bulbs available, however.

LED bulbs will cause interference but under most circumstances, the lights are off when you initially pull up to your garage door and press the open button.

For myself, I have LED on the garage opener, so it will turn on when the garage door opens. Opening won't be an issue, but when you try to close it (when you are driving away from home), it is almost impossible and you have to get very close to the door to get it to work.
From my testing, those garage door friendly LED will not totally eliminate the interfere, but it will reduce it so that you will have a good range for the garage door opener to function.

I have a 2020 GLE and I have the same issues. I have taken it to the MB dealership 3 X for this issue. I took photos of the model,RF frequency ranges and they validated MB should work fine. They sent road side service out to my house to make sure it was programmed correctly (which it was) and typically after 5-7 uses it loses it code again. I have another appointment with the dealership on Monday. I'm also having issues with my key fob not being recognized while in vehicle. I'm going to demand a new key fob, new computer and or mirror. I was told the mirror which houses the garage door opener features is sourced from a 3rd party.
I'm so disappointed as I waited 2 years until this model came out to buy this MB and I've had it 8 months and it hasn't worked yet. I'm open to any feedback.

Does your garage door opener have LED lights -- did you try switching them to incandescent or buying the bulbs discussed here?

Just try to program yourself correctly in the first place. I've never had any problems, since I did the programming myself. Here is the video how to do it:

I have found that carrying metallic things in the same pocket as the M-B keys can dissipate the fob's signals enough to cause them not to work. So now I carry my house keys in my left pocket, and the M-B fob in the right pocket, and have no more problems.
I have heard that the new fob's signals are less strong, to discourage code theft. Also the sleep mode on the fob, but I haven't experienced that.

I do find that I am activating the rear hatch inadvertently when I am working, like checking tire pressures. It seems that the hatch button is a little proud of the case, so it's easy to press with activity. Now, in addition to carrying keys in a different pocket, I also face the fob inward toward my body, instead of outward. New fangled problem.

When you (or the other programmer) receive a confirmation signal from the Opener?
I have three vintages of GDO, and each one confirms a bit differently. Blinking light, "OK" on the home screen, or "it just functions" after the second round of programming. That last "it just functions" confirmation isn't very reliable.

I've had the exact same problem with my 2021 E450. It has lost the code for one door twice now. It did not lose the code for the second door.

One thing I didn’t see mentioned is the memory limit on openers. As I recall after 10 different remote or car openers programmed you need to clear the memory and start over. Sometimes you can program a new vehicle that is #11 and it will work once or twice and then clear out. This can sneak up on you quickly and if you aren’t the first owner it’s hard to even know how many were programmed prior.

First of all thanks for your easy to follow video. About 6 days ago I had a new GDO installed. It’s a Chamberlain 3/4 hp. belt drive model with Wi-Fi. BTW my old GDO was over 40 years old , the installer couldn’t believe it until he saw date of manufacture was 1981. When I programmed it from my car , I did not have to go to the back of the unit and press the PRGM/LEARN button. I was able to do it all from inside the car. I’ve used the unit a couple of times from the car , it seems to be fine. Does this seem possible, or can I anticipate it losing the roaming code shortly? Once again thank you

I have a similar Chamberlain but without the phone app. Similar instructions on the video keypad though, and I also didn't have to take the usual second step for rolling codes.
For maybe a half a dozen times after first installing, it seemed to stumble, as if it was struggling with the rolling code.
Since then, and it's been over a year, I haven't had a problem. But I'm always suspicious that I haven't performed the completion steps.

On a previous Chamberlain, I called Chamberlain and they were extremely helpful. They also sent a free battery because I thought mine was over a year old if I got it. Helpful folks and worth the call.

LED bulbs for GDO

Just had the opener installed 6 days ago. Did not have any LED bulbs for the installers to use. Received some yesterday and installed in GDO. Will let you know if there’s a problem

Same here. Our 2 year old Liftmaster (wall mount) had a gear issue and they sent us a new unit. That one could be programed via the car. Super convenient. Our other Chamberlains were programmed by initiating it via the wall keypad.
The Liftmaster has a separate LED Lamp, so assume this is no issue.

If you could program the remote from the car, it means your garage door opener was on the same frequency code (did not roll the code), which is easier to program but much less secure. I don't think they had the rolling code security 40 years ago. But most newer units should have the rolling code security, which is also easy to program if you just follow the video demo from above.

Call Chamberlain with your model numbers and they'll help you with any questions or problems.
Good luck. It's always fun to triumph over a machine.
