GLE 53 noisy suspension
Hello all,
We took delivery of our new GLE 53 a couple of weeks ago. We immediately noticed noise coming from front and rear suspension. Took it to the dealer, they kept it for a couple of days and reported that few bolts were tightened and several software updates were made. Now it is quieter, but there's still noise coming from the rear on bumpy roads.
Overall, as of now, we are definitely not impressed. Anyone with experience on GLE53?

I find it ride pretty rough, even with comfort. Not sure if it’s normal, noise wise due to 21 and stiffer suspension it’s does make a lot of road noise. Nothing clunking so far.

Hey Tery, glad to see you got your 53!!
I notice a slight vibration with my winter wheels. I feel like the air suspension should be soaking it up. The wheels got re-balanced and they're good, so it's not likely the wheels.
If my OEM wheels go back on and I still have this issue, I'm going to bring it to the dealer.

it is a clunking noise for me, surely the 22 inches rims don't help. However it is a lot quieter after service. Just left with a "tack" sound from A or B pillar, can't tell.
Love the engine though, always been a fan of straight 6.

The handling on the 53 with the AMG Active Ride Control is really good though. It definitely handles well with way less body roll than you'd expect from such a tall and heavy vehicle.

The AMG ride control is pretty good I have to say. With the rear 315 with Tires, you can do some pretty fast driving and feel confident. I have some experience tracking different cars, pretty impressive for a big car.

Question, AMG Sport Suspension based on AIR BODY CONTROL that’s standard on GLC 43 is not the same as AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL Suspension based on AMG RIDE CONTROL+ (Including eActive Roll Stabilization) that comes with AMG Dynamic Plus Package on GLE 53, correct?
If it really makes a lot of difference it would be nice to have even though it seems to be like $5k extra. My only problem is that it comes with Dinamica steering wheel. I feel like it will be a huge pita to maintain. And off course active ride control seems to be the only thing in that package you can’t get on its own.

I love my Dinamica steering wheel. I don't find it hard to keep clean. But I do make sure I wash my hands or use hand sanitizer before driving. Which is a good practice considering Coronavirus etc.

I imagine that is the lion share of the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package that according to my dealer will be around $5k in the US (465 AMG Active Ride Control, U88 AMG Drive Unit, U70 AMG High Perf Braking System with Red Calipers, L6G AMG Dinamica steering wheel and 256 AMG Track pace). I do not see it listed as a stand alone option on the early DOGs though. Everything else in that package is. I would probably be willing to order it all separately (except track pace because I would never use it anyways) just to get a leather steering wheel. Any chance you can post a pic of the steering wheel at some point?

A question for other owners of the 53. Are the AMG exhausts firmly attached to the bumper or do they have a play. Ours have a play, both sides. Dealer is not sure if it's meant to be like that.

I am around 600km now, starting to hear noise from front suspension. Open the bottom pan trying to see what’s loose. Found all sort of hose and line not clip in. I end up fixing them all but still has some slight noise. Anyone got any feed back from dealer What’s wrong ? I can hear clunking noise at low speed. Any above 50km car is solid, drives good also.

my exhausts are firmly attached. At 950km now and there’s still a slight noise at low speeds in the rear, can’t tell what it is.. maybe the EQ? Active ride control? Airmatic? any updates from dealer would be appreciated

My exhaust tip has a very little amount of play up and down but not side to side.
update on suspension, I started to hear some noise front end also this passed Monday. Brought the car in Thursday and just got it back. They updated some software and look at all the nuts a bolts could not find anything. Same noise at lower speed, feels like something creeping and small clunking. They think it might be the EQ system.
