Waze in Android Auto - 2020 GLE
Hi All,
I am able to connect to Android auto with the new 2020 GLE, and have every application expected except Waze. It does not show in the main menu of Android auto. On Android Auto menu customization, I see Waze listed, Waze is available in AA without car connection, and works on a VW. Tried a different phone as well. Anyone have an idea? Phone, car, cable, operator?

I don’t use Waze but thought it was a menu option somewhere where you selected Waze or AA, will have to see if I can find it again. I thought they would have been integrated a long time ago.

Are you getting Widescreen on your GLE now? I have AA enabled for Widescreen but it’s not working on my GLE-Mercedes Tech said not working-maybe an FUp3 update will fix. My info is a 2-3 months old.

For me, I have to use the touchscreen or google assist for actions on AA.

So the software version reports apilevel/ntg6/077. I'm on a Canadian chassis if that makes a difference. Cell phone is a OnePlus 6T running Android 10, OxygenOs 10.3.2. with Android auto at version 5.1.500664-release. AA is I'm developer mode. I also have AA for phone screens installed.

We have apilevel/ntg6_fup2/063 in US, which we refer toFUP2 update. If I remember correctly, a previous version of MBUX (FUB1?) has the touchpad support, but was removed.
Hopefully we will get an update in the US.

Thank you for this info ! I'm also in Canada and just picked up my 2020 GLE450 last night. I was stumped not getting Waze to work, only Google maps. I did a search and found this thread, now I have everything working just as you described. Touch pad control and HUD.... Only missing widescreen which I hope they address soon in a software update. Thanks again for posting, much appreciated !

There is a good chance we may never see it ... I'm sure MB would rather us use the native navigation rather than Waze so why would the give up the ONLY thing thats better than Waze? I have compared traffic routing on Waze vs MBUX and MBUX is absolutely useless. Waze is also better at finding and updating routes. I have only used the MBUX navigation maybe 2-3 times in the 5 months I've had the car and I always switch back to Waze.

Even regular Android Auto without using Waze gives you speed trap and construction type routing now. Probably thanks to Waze users because I don’t see a way to input them in AA.
Mercedes needs to accept the fact that they will never keep up with Apple or Android for quality Navigation or for “Hey Mercedes” functions. They have a pretty map that is years behind in functionality, IMO.
