Just picked up my GLE 53 Coupe

Hello everyone — been a long wait and finally picked up my 53 coupe today!

So far I can say with certainty it’s the best car I have ever had — coming from Tahoe’s, 2 M6’s, And most recently a C Coupe.

Here’s a couple picture’s for y’all!

Love that grille. The wheels are hot, too. Enjoy!

I was told by the MB mechanic, just go easy for first 1000KM. Don’t do too much constant highway. Just normal drive and bring the engine through different loads and rpm but don’t red line it. That’s it.

Thanks for the compliments y’all

I’m noticing that some coupes were dressed with Michelin but my car was outfitted with continentals—anyone have an idea why?

Also, is it possible to lower the car by the center console switch alone or is that controlled solely through which suspension mode is selected? I am able to raise the car but not lower

The 53 may be different than my 450. As I recall my switch lowers and raises the car but it depends on where it is when you activate it. From Comfort Mode it will lower about the same amount as using the “Lower on Entry” selection. If in Off Road it lowers even more since it’s higher to start. The suspension is reportedly stiffer on the 53 so it may not lower the same. Do you have the AMG Sport Suspension? That will be different also.

Looks Like Mercedes is playing the bait and switch game with the tires again. When they first introduced the 53 they were wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S SUV (The best in my opinion) know it looks like they are putting ContiCrossContact LX Sport? They pulled this stunt on my

They have to do that incase a brand got a massive recall. Usually they switch between two brands. I am not sure about other places but I alway ask for Michelin when I order the car, dealer seems to put a note on the order.

They cheeped out and gave me a 15 year old design Pirelli when all earlier cars showed up with latest and greatest pilot sport 4s. I complained to dealership and MB Canada who could care less. Sold them online and bought the Michelin’s which made a huge difference. Nothing like forking out a ton of money for a car with Walmart tires.

Continental does make some good tires but I believe MB could have choose a more capable tire like the PremiumContact 6, etc.

Mine came with the Bridgestone run flats. Absolutely hate them...it rides like a Jeep!

‘There is probably no clear answer except for which one meets your needs. There is a lot of quality info on the differences if you do a search. My understanding short answer-The PPF will protect your paint but won’t deepen the shine like Ceramic. Ceramic can be a simple wax substitute to a complex application that lasts longer. I do PPF to protect the front end from sand & gravel in the winter. I love the look of a good Ceramic on a clean car in the sun.

Paint Protection Film is preferable for places with harsh winters to protect against rock chips. It’s usually more money but does a better job than a coating. If your going with it I would recommend doing whole hood instead of bra so you don’t have nasty line.

Ceramic is a semi fad but will help water beed and keep car cleaner.

PPF is a film helps protect against rocks, snow salt rain, bugs, air pollution depending on where you live. Im in the city and find it helpful in tight parking spots just in case I bump my door on a wall or car (Softly), or when my bag or something in my hand brushes against the car. PPF also has hydrophobic and self healing properties depending what brand you go with.

Ceramic is a nanocoat adds that deep shine. small dirt and dust come right off with a quick spray of water. Pretty neat. You can jump on YouTube and find a lot of comparisons.

FWIW I have PPF, then I wrapped over it with emerald green metallic+ceramic.
