Options choice AMG-Line or Multicontour seats ?

Hello,
I'm about to order my GLE.
I can choose to have an AMG-Line without multicontour seats and with no inflating bolsters, no massage... or having a regular one (Exclusive interior / Avant-Garde Line in France) with those options.
Does anyone got te opportunity to test drive the two types of seats ? I had only the chance to be in a AMG Line one with microfiber Dynamica.
On the configurator it seems that the seats have got the same design shape wether they are Confort seats (Exclusive) or Sports seats (AMG Line).

Also do you have any advice/recommendation on the options that you find mandatory ?

My configuration should be :
1/ AMG Line interior/exterior
- Premium Plus pack
- A/C 4 zones
- HUD + artico Dashboard panel
- Drive assist pack
- Dynamica microfiber

2/ Exclusive line
Same than above +
- Full leather (beige)
- Multicontour seats

Your comments are more than welcome.

That’s a tough choice but the AMG Body makes the car, IMO. In the US we can order the AMG body without the AMG interior and still get the Multi Contour...that’s what I did. I don’t know about the standard seats but if I had to choose I would go for the AMG exterior vs the Multicontour seats. The seats are nice but I rarely use most of the functions.

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately in France we don't have that kind of choice. MB France is really weird regarding the options that they propose.
For example the blinds for the rear doors are not possible to get, even if it's an option available on the BMW X5 on the french market.
You can have blinds for the GLC but not for the GLE...

Which ever seat you get, make sure it has the massage function. I use it every time I drive the car. If you take long trip, it is phenomenal. Personally, I recommend the HUD, the warmth and convenience package (quick heat seats and armrests), Driver's Assist Package, Burmeister Stereo, and Pano roof.

I wouldn't get a GLE without the AMG exterior. Having the option here in the U.S. to get the AMG exterior with multi contour seats is great. In a perfect world, you'd be able to get the AMG interior with multi contour seats.

That's the problem here in France : impossible to get AMG Exterior with multi contour seats. So stupid.
But that's how MB-France marketing team think it should be for their customers. Even in other European countries (Switzerland, Belgium, Germany...) you have much more choices.

I would go with the AMG line. Looks infinitely better in my opinion (I think the base model cars are one of the ugliest in the class and the AMG line cars are up there with the X5 for best looking personally) and the sports steering wheel is much nicer too. Based on limited personal experience in the dealerships, I haven’t noticed a significant difference between the sport and comfort seats (I’ve been in MB-Tex and textured leather multicontour comfort seats, and I’ve been in MB-Tex/Dynamica and Nappa sport seats), and although the massage is nice, to me that wouldn’t be so important. But that’s what I would do. My best advice would be to decide which styling you prefer, and see if you can find a multicontour seat to sit in and judge the comfort vs the sport seat for yourself!

PS, if we’re talking about stupid ordering mandates, in the US, for some reason the drivers assist package requires the massage seat! The drivers assist includes adaptive cruise, lane keep, all those great convenience things plus all the safety gear, and costs US$2,250, yet requires another almost US$5,500 worth of gear! Surround view camera ($400) makes sense, but the massage seat is $1,100, and that requires ventilated seat (&450), warmth and comfort package (heated armrests and center console, $1,050), leather seat ($1,620), and the passenger seat memory with extra adjustment ($350).
So two thousand dollars turns into over seven thousand! C’est très stupide!!

I was a little disappointed with the Sport Seats with AMG Interior originally; I thought the same in my 2012 were more comfortable. I have gotten used to them. I would not go without the AMG exterior, can do without massage, but that's just my opinion.

Agree. AMG exterior with Multicontour seats is the best configuration. You can always swap out the steering wheel if you want an AMG steering wheel.

Diwnside of the AMG wheel is you can’t get it heated.

Good point. For me the ideal would be the heated wood trim wheel. But my car came with a non-heated standard wheel. Not sure if it can be switched out without having to re-code the car and get a new steering column.
