Thanks, I wanted a darker color that complements the black but either will probably look good. I was Leary about the Carbon Fiber delaying my order since the 63S may be building. That said, there is no “delayed availability” so it may not be an issue.
A little late to the thread but got conformation on my built today. Production date is set for October so delivery should be in November. **Thinking about the Drivers Assist Pkg, but might be too late to make changes at this point. Any thoughts if the DAP is necessary?? Thanks.
Nice build. If you take many long trips the DAP can be useful but in no way necessary. I like the Distronic/lane centering feature when I want to relax a little or to eat. You might also consider the AMG Dynamic Plus with Active Sway Bar Control and larger brakes.

My dealer said no more changes can be done to the built. Not happy about since I’m considering the DAP now. Been waiting for about 5 months now which I don’t mind however after waiting this long just want the right options for me in the car.
Also, now I’m having second thoughts on the wheels options since it’s almost impossible to get all seasons on this wheel size. Might have to buy additional wheels set for winter????

The 22’s are very nice looking. A second set of tire & wheels almost pays for itself since the originals will last longer. You save the mounting fees and I’m always Leary of damage with too many swaps. Finding a second set of AM wheels is a challenge but buying Mercedes wheels costs more Than I paid for the full set. Here’s my set with Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV studless 275/50 R20 & Tire Rack purchased wheels with M caps from Amazon. Yes et45 0n 8.5x20” wheels. The tires are the same size as the factory 20’s...275/50 R20 113V. The factory are 9” but the tire is spec’d to also fit 8.5”. As I remember the fronts are net 1/4” wider. At least these can be rotated without dismounting from the wheel. I’m hoping they still fit the GLE 53 with the larger brakes included in the AMG Dynamic Plus pkg.
Approximately how far prior to build should the dealer be able to provide a VIN ?

I have the same build date & checked yesterday on the Serial Number. The system still shows a Sept date & Decade 1 build. My SA thought that the Sept date applies to the components from suppliers to provide for JIT delivery.
The Factory assigns the SN closer to the production date...my 2020 GLE was assigned about 3 weeks prior. Maybe set just before the body shell & other SN stamped parts are set for Production.

I placed the order around June 20th 2020. Just spoke to dealer today and he said that the car is still not shipped. He expects it will be 4-5 weeks before I can take delivery.

Since that’s in the time frame for Dealers stock inventory orders to build they may have allocated one of their builds. I custom ordered 6-19-2020 and have a D1, Oct build date. My dealer offered me one they had building in August but the build was locked and it was nothing that I wanted.
Working on a 53 SUV order with my dealer now and he replied saying 21U Dashcam is not available to order on the 53 (I’m in the US), oh well....still finalizing the final build and would hope to get it before January if that’s even feasible. Will post final order once it’s confirmed.
I had the dash cam on my wish list and my dealer told me that if you have a dash cam the police can view it at a traffic stop and write a ticket based on the content? Not sure this is correct but I decided to leave it off the car.

Lots of "it depends" built into such a scenario. Keep in mind that many new cars also carry some sort of electronic data recorder, which although maybe not as readily accessible, still would work within the same thought process.
Although I'm not super familiar, the dashcam is probably a software feature that uses the existing hardware built into the vehicle. I'm not so easily convinced that many law enforcement officers would even know that feature is present in the vehicle, much less request to review footage during a routine traffic stop. Just my thoughts.
We're starting to see built-in dashcams now. I'm sure it will be more common in the next few years. And in another decade or two it will probably be mandated in most countries.

10” front with 285/40 tire & 11” rear 325/35 tire. I saw those wheels a few weeks ago...very nice looking.
