It’s an option if you decide to try some ski trips. I bought my wheels (20”) from Tire Rack and Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 SUV from Costco because TR didn’t stock them until later. TR will ship a tire and wheel set, stud bolts, balanced, mounted and include sensors ($40+ each) compatible with Mercedes for temp/air pressure. On a package they don’t charge to mount and balance, (worth at least $80), but they add for shipping. My last set came in two days and were very well packaged. Don’t give up....skiing is fun but the gear for 3 people will probably set you back a lot more than the tires. We all need to do our $$$ part to help the economy🤑.

I’m anxious to find out if my 20” winter tire and wheel setup from my 450 will still fit with the AMG High Performance Brakes. The regular AMG brakes are 15.75”-2 piston vs 15.75”-6 piston on front so I’m optimistic. Rear are smaller so shouldn’t be an issue.
I also want to confirm that we will get All Season Tires on the 21’s as listed in the DOG. With AS tires I don’t need to worry about changing over when temps get near freezing. The Michelin AS on my 450 performed well and also had good tread life at 14k.
Ron - I think our 53s are scheduled for the same build week in November. You hearing any new news? I am going to reach out to my Dealer but curious if you are hearing anything different? Joe

The 450 with the 6 cylinder has been scarce compared to the 4 banger for at least a year. Demand has been strong for the 450...supply not so good.
Canadian 53’s released late 2019 had suspension noise show up mid year 2020 and a redesigned piece tp correct.
The Multi Contour seats are complicated and the first supplier might have been replaced-now we have more AMG leather options.
Some trims like Metal Weave were dropped last year and not because of demand, now added Carbon Fiber.
Covid related shutdowns may be increasing again-Mercedes sources components in several countries.
They have increased production capacity so I’m hoping that ours are produced in November as scheduled.

This will probably lead to more Vertical Integration, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Warehousing. And higher expenses.
And reduction of product variations and option choices.
My wife is very happy as her AMG 53 SUV just went into production today! We now have a VIN number as well.
Maybe delivery by Thanksgiving? Fingers crossed.

I ordered a GLE53W4 the first week of October and was told last week that my build was accepted by Mercedes. What does that mean and how long does it take to build these vehicles? Thanks!

After acceptance there is normally a projected build date given in decades (10 day increments). Your Dealer should have a better feel for when that will happen based on their allocation situation and recent experience. You might start by asking your Dealer how many orders are ahead of you and when they will have an allocation for yours. Some SA’s will keep you up to date as to changes but others don’t. My guess would be 4-5 months unless they took one of their inventory allocations and customized it for your build.
Good Luck!
I just reached out for a projected build date. When I first placed the order, they said I should have the car in 2-3 months and that he expects it to be ready in December. However, after reading all the posts on this forum, I am not so sure.

I'm a few months out with a Jan '21 build date
