How do I update the map and the software version on my GLE350?

I asked the dealer and they said they charge for it and it should automatically update through home WiFi. That didn’t sound right. Appreciate the help!

 

Your dealer is not very knowledgeable! Ut's not through home wifi but via the car's own connection.
Alternatively, http://me.mercedes-benz.com is where you can download your updates manually, you will need a USB drive.

 

I posted my experience with manual updates. See this link to how it works. And yes 2020 cars will update over the car or you can do it manually. The dealers don’t get involved any longer.

The over-the-air update is very limited. 1) It can take a month for an update to be pushed to you. 2) It will only update one region. If you haven't configured it with the region you want, it won't do anything. 3) It doesn't update the voice files.

It's far better to download the entire map collection from the Mercedes Me portal and update the maps yourself. It takes about 1/2 hour to upload them from a USB drive to COMAND, plus download time, which is determined by your internet speed.

 

I have a 2017 GLE 350 and can't seem to to find the software update anywhere? Anyone point me in the right direction? I try going in MercedesME app and website no luck..

I have a rather old but great Merc: GL350.

I’ve never owned a Merc and have no idea how to update the map.

Please direct me in the right direction.

I don't believe you can do it without a Mercedes.me account. If you don't already have one, then you can use the link that @BlueYonder provided above. You can register at the bottom right of the login screen.
