Clunk in left rear over bumps
For those that followed my wagon saga in the W213 forum, you'll surely think I am crazy. Has anyone experienced a clunk-like rattle in the left rear over moderate bumps? I get this on my GLE350, more so when it is cold outside. If there is some simple fix or known issue, I will bring it up at my first service appointment. If not, I will leave it be, but figured I would ask this group. Thanks, all.

@Lanzz your title says left, and your text says right. If it's the right side, have you opened the interior hatch to see if there's something loose in there?

Good catch, Mika, it is in left rear, I corrected the above. Yeah, I looked in the hatch, third seat area, don't see anything loose.

I have a sound coming from the LH rear seat over bump's or potholes, if the rear seat is lifted forward it will go. but only for one day & then return once more, got to say it's starting to p-ss me off

In your case, it’s probably coming from the seat latching mechanism or the seat hinges— does it go away if someone sits in the seat? The mechanism probably just needs to be lubed. You could try it yourself and if that doesn’t work take it to the dealer, schedule to have a tech ride with you in the back so they can hear and locate the noise. I had an internal creek in my driver seat when I’d go around a curve. I arranged to have a service tech ride with me in the back. He heard it, was able to locate it, and fixed it on the first attempt.

I think it is outside in my case, but I am going to drive it with the second row folded down and the retractable cover removed and see if that makes a difference. Could also be third row related in my case, so I will drive with that up and down to see if it changes.

Sorry to bring up older post but I was wondering if you had a follow up Lanzz? We seem to be having something similar and wondered if you had it resolved and what the issue was?

Never got it resolved - still happens all the time. Second Benz in a row with an annoying clunk in rear over bumps.
