Protection for GLE during transport to dealer
My GLE entered the country and arrived to of my dealer's locations in another city. It came by road, not train. I asked for a couple of pictures and the car was dirty, no body protection, it was just unloaded from the truck. A friend of mine bought a G63 last year and it came fully wrapped, it had a full body textile cover.
Did you get a chance to see how your GLEs arrive at the dealer? Do they have any body protection or not?
There is still a week or so until I take deliver of it so the dealer has the time to prepare it for deliver but I'm curios if this is the way the cars arrive to the dealer or it is just mine that arrived unprotected.

2024 GMC Canyon Denali..... 2018 Audi SQ5
I don’t think my GLE 450 came with protection either but it was clean & reportedly came by truck. I took pictures the day it unloaded and had not yet been to detailing but it’s possible it had been washed.
Our Audi had a full protective wrap and came in an enclosed truck. I was leaving a business across the street from the Dealer when I saw it being unloaded.

GLEs delivered to my dealer in the central US come via truck and are not covered.

Vehicles shipped via ocean freight likely have different packaging (film, etc) used. Common for freight in general to use different packaging methods for different modes of shipment.
For vehicles the modes are:
-rail
-ocean
-truck
Length of haul (voyage length) may also affect a shipper’s choice of packaging materials within a given transport mode.

The only protection they used.

Awhile ago when corvettes had a wrap type bag on the for transport, I remember hearing the bag flapping around in the wind caused minor paint damage. I have also heard about tape marks in the paint when the cars had the film on them. Maybe limited protection is better in some situations. Either way best to give the car a good look over prior to signing.

Congratulations ! I love the colour, had a hard time deciding but I ended up with Obsidian black.
It seems the protection is the same minimal application for local and international orders !
My build date was August 26, 2020 and I took delivery on October 2 in Canada so that's not too bad for delivery in France !

I have done the same choice for the rims, I stayed on the 20". I was a bit afraid that they look too thin (not enough large) but I have seen a 300d with them last week and it was ok.
It's really weird that they have put you the grey rims because you have the night package. I remember that in late june when they change the configurator in FR the 20" black rims where possible to order for 350€ instead of the grey ones. I have kept the grey because I didn't take the night package and the colour of my paint is blue.
My build has been done 1st decade of October and the car was in Brunswick on October 23rd. Since that I didn't get any news and I hope to have it before Christmas, but it's not really sure...
