I can not believe what I just saw and read in that picture and instructions. Did they really assign a part number to a friggen zip-tie?

Yeap! I pointed that out to wifey this morning when we were looking at stuff in the forums. Hilarious isn’t it!

Am I correct to assume now, though with so many asking about how to get the seat out to fish the seatbelt out, that when my kid drops something in the seats now it’s gone forever?

I've put it on a trickle charger for 48 hours and the charger never indicates that the battery is charged. Time to get it checked before it leaves me stranded.
Click Home on the touchpad, scroll to the right and click on Info then select Engine. The voltage is on the bottom left of the quad display.

There's another document on the that website that says the affected vehicles were built from MAY 30, 2017 - JUL 24, 2020. I guess that must be a mistake.

I finally took the time to take a close look at the completed work on mine. It doesn't look like the picture in the service bulletin in a previous post. There is nothing visible from above. Sticking my finger down around the belts I was able to feel the "zip-tie". What I felt was nothing like any zip tie I have ever used in wiring. What I felt was round rather than flat. Not that that should matter. Also the center belt still had enough free slack to lay over in the indentation in the seat as designed.

On the flip side, this issue doesn't impact GLE's with a 3rd row. The second row seat-belt buckles are secured differently to account for the power second row seats tilt forward feature to allow access to the third row...so yay.

You have to understand this is an upscale vehicle, so only the best equipment used. Had it been a $50,000 vehicle, you just wrap duct tape around the two buckles.

To be fair, zip tie is a valid form of securing items in car. It is especially useful when securing wire harness to certain location which is sustainable to vibration. There are different forms of zip ties that is used in different location for different purpose.
But, in my case, the zip tie (that looks different than normal zip tie) that is used to secure the seatbelt buckle is located below the seat cushion, which means the buckle itself can still be pushed below the cushion.
Its hard to tell from the diagram from the recall notice where cable tie should be, but I would think it should be right below the right buckle (at cushion level) which will prevent the center buckle from being push down.

By the way, I was able to fish out the center bucket with just the front portion of the seat cushion lifted. The reason I asked if anyone know how to remove the entire cushion is so that I can check to see if I can "relocate" the cable tie to a higher position.

Just want to update on my situation.
I visited the service department this morning, and they determine that the first cable tie wasn't install in the correct position so it wasn't effective on holding the middle seatbelt buckle in place.
They installed a second cable tie on a much higher position (cushion level) and this does prevent the middle buckle from being push down under the cushion.

I just fastened the buckle to prevent it from falling down. Rarely do I have someone in that seat anyway.
