Recently logged into the MercedesMe online portal to check for map updates... continuing to see the following error message. Anyone else experiencing the same? I did have the techs update to latest MBUX (apilevel/ntg/080)... wondering if this is causing issues.

I cynically observe that the site is run by the same people who gave you the COVID-19 vaccine scheduling site (been trying all morning-- snagged several appointments and by the time I filled in personal data they were gone). Seriously-- probably server issues.
OK, I have just spoken to Mercedes Me support in Germany.
The system is down while they are waiting for an update from Adobe. His English was hard to understand so I did not press him on the exact reason, but it will be back soon.
Ah good, I'm not the only one having this issue. Glad to hear that at least it's known and they are "working" on it. It has been down for a while now. OTA updates appear to still be working, though. I got a map update in late December for my 2019 C63, so at least my home region is up to date. I've been in contact with them about some other issues and they do seem to be working hard on resolving them. The new Mercedes Me connect app has been getting regular updates and I finally get a picture of my own car in the app and in the web portal vs a generic picture before. Daimler is heavily investing in their digital platforms and I think they fired the previous team that created this mess and the current team is working hard to fix it. It'll take some time, though.
My cynical comment coming from the tech world is that all career web developers should be put to work doing grunt work for the real web-savy folk-- 12 year olds. Turn Daimler development to some pre-teens and those guys and gals will fix it.

I'd say - Quit plugging subroutines into programs if you have no idea what they do. In other words - do REAL programming instead of throwing Cr** at it. Pre-teens don't know programming - it's a lost skill.
If I have to guess, I would think this has something to do with Adobe dropping support for Flash. The timing match with the drop support date (December 31, 2020) and the mentioning of Adobe in the communication seems to suggest that.
But if that is the case, I wonder what take so long for Mercedes to update their code? As this was announced for almost a year now (and most major browser stop supporting it or have it disabled by default)
Hard to believe that anyone would have failed to transition from Flash when Adobe first gave notice-- and ample notice at that. But it is the most logical answer.

The map download doesn't use Flash. The Download Manager is a Java application. It comes bundled with the necessary JRE and is all self-contained. Much of this is driven by HERE as the map data comes from them and the whole offline platform is theirs. It seems there's a change in the works. Audi's manual map download has been unavailable for almost a year now and they are saying a new site is coming in Q2 which will restore the download. I must think this is related, because both together with BMW own HERE and use it for their maps etc. I'm guessing some Adobe product is used behind the scenes for managing the downloads or something. In the meantime, OTA updates are still working as far as I can tell, so we are getting the automatic map updates for one's home region, but just can't manually download other regions and the voice recognition updates for now. One problem is that if you decide to move out of your current region you won't be able to update your home region at the moment.

I know the downloader is Java application. I am just guessing its related to Flash since the timing is so close.
It could be that some backend application uses Flash as the UI. Again, I am just guessing based on its Adobe and the close time with the discontinued support for Flash.
One interesting thing is that the online map update site returns status code of 417 (expectation failed), which is something that I rarely see.
A 417 status code usually means server rejected request. Clearly the front end that we see is Java script. My bet is that Flash Player is somewhere in the pipeline.
That's what I am seeing, not the 417 code. Just reporting on what a 417 usually means.
Yes, but if you look at the actual network call, you can see the 417 status code. The UI doesn't actually show that status code, just a generic message.
I don't think its just map update. I am also seeing errors on the Manage Driver Profile and Software updates page.
On Manage Driver Profile, I got 500 error, and it is showing this
And on the Software updates section, it said everything is updated, but looking at the network call, it said my car is not found (404 error)
OK... I see where you're finding the exception codes. I haven't tried the car yet, but I imagine it will return the same message.
There are times that I long for my father-in-law's 1961 Chevy Biscayne with 3 on the column, which he drove from San Diego to Tijuana for business since he didn't want to drive the Mercedes to Tijuana. Never had to worry about software updates.
