I have yet to find a compelling use for Wi-Fi in the car. I suppose it makes some sense if you have kids and they want their iPads or whatever connected, or something like a dashcam, but I'm not sure if the Wi-Fi stays active when the car is parked so the dashcam could upload footage while the car is parked. Otherwise all my devices have their own data connection, and if I really need Internet on the go for my laptop for example, then yes, I just connect to the phone's hotspot. As an existing AT&T customer, I could add it to my shared data plan for only $10, but I just don't see the point in paying another $10 for a second hotspot when my phone already has one.

I purchased the 2 year unlimited plan (I don't see that option now). I use it for hotspot for my phone (T-mobile) since if I use < 2GB, I get a $10 dollars discount.
The only other device I have on the hotspot is my Dashcam. Its a Blackvue DR900S-2CH with backup battery so I can view the camera and get alerts while parking outside home.

I believe so. I think all the Mercedes me apps seem to need a data plan to work. Car comes with 1GB/30day free trial. I activated mine, but didn't renew and for some reason the Mercedes me apps kept working. I don't really use them, other than occasionally bringing up the weather app, but I could swear when I tried to use it before signing up for the trial it said that a data plan was required. But those apps are mostly useless. I just stream music from my phone.

I get the AT&T unlimited for $15/month--there was a sale in December. I got it because the AT&T data is cheaper than my cellphone's Verizon data plan and I use a lot of data. There are also areas where I go that don't get Verizon service but do get AT&T service.

Can you confirm that Spotify and Amazon music are indeed available in MBUX directly? Perhaps not in the Canadian market because I don't see it and would love if it did.

I don't see Spotify as an app in MBUX. It's available through Android Auto so it's definitely using data from my phone, not the car. I also have Amazon Music, haven't really tried it with AA but it's also not available directly in MBUX.

In my USA GLE450 SUV, I have neither Amazon nor Spotify. I have the InTune app in MBUX though. I'd rather have Pandora, but I can get that through my iPhone.
