Wonder if it's related.
Sorry about your trouble with MBUX. The burning smell is normal for new cars and is most noticeable when parked in enclosed garage - should disappear after a 1000kms or so.

That's true. Also true is that the screens DO get hot. My old ML's both overheated their screens at high elevations (thin air at 10,000 ft) and shut down with an overheat warning.

They told me it is a different part number (thank god) because Mercedes knew they had an issue with the old version. Pretty sure you all are getting new part numbers too. Make sure to ask your tech.

So far so good.

Good driving!

Im glad you are finally enjoying your new ride! Could it be possible that you can share (if available on the work papers) the original and the replacement part numbers? It would be helpful for those still waiting to verify the problem is taken care of for good.

Got my GLE53 AMG Coupe today after the MBUX unit replacement. So far, so good. Everything appears to be working just fine including Nav and the High End 3-D Surround Sound System. This the part number I have from the rapair papers:

167-900-48-19 (Control Unit, Complete).

Unfortunately I do not have the original/defective part number so I don’t know if it is a different part.

Well, you can add me to this list! 2021 GLE 63S with1,738 miles started the MBUX endless reboot game today. No radio, nav, phone, etc. Camera works when you put it in reverse and back into drive - screen goes black during reboot then comes back on again. Will be taking it in for service on Monday.

Marco polo v300
Same problem

Hi, hope you've got this sorted.
My brand new marco polo v300 has the same fault. Its booked in for repair this week but how long did it take yours to be fixed?
I've owned 5 bmws and 2 audis and never had an issue. So far my Mercedes experience isn't an enjoyable one 🤔

It will have been in the shop longer than I have had it at home and the crazy thing is I still have a 1000 payment🤦🏽‍♂️ Completely insane
I ordered the E53 convertible in Sep, went in production end of Jan, delivered 03/09, 2 days later the MBUX went bad. Still waiting for MBUX unit to arrive in May, driving loaner.

Ok our GLE went in today, service said needed new controller for MBUX. They ordered part and said it will be overnighted and back together tomorrow. Gave us a loaner GLC.
I will report back when we have the car back. Good chance it will not be until Thursday as we must drive 3 hours to dealer.

We have a service appointment set for next week, but we were driving today and miraculously the MBUX right screen started to work again after 5 days! A few things were still not working - navigation kept saying it was activating but never did seem to get anywhere and Hey Mercedes still wasn’t working. We’ll see when we get in the car tomorrow if anything is fixed or if it’s all gone again.

So happy I found this thread have had my truck for about 8 weeks this issue has now started for me, service is overwhelmed and cannot get my truck in for 10 days no loaner cars available so I must wait. They told me I could pay for my own rental car and drop off today if I wanted. Um hello no!!!!!!
problem if they know it should be a quick fix once they acknowledge the actually global issue going on.
so frustrating to drive, and my alerts go off like I’m going to hit something every time it reboots.

Ok it has been 8 days since the part was ordered from Germany and still no part! Sounds like a part shortage. The vehicles built in the US must be using the old part and they are just hoping that the part does not fail. To me this does not seem the way to make happy customers.
Will update when we know more.

It could be that currently built units are getting the new part, and thus the delay to you.
Hard to say.
Good luck.

Part of a Mercedes new vehicle order locking for changes reportedly includes the allocation of components...some of those are identified by SN. I’ve been told that a vehicle “out of service” gets highest priority for a replacement part but not likely by taking a part already allocated to a production vehicle. It’s not likely that they will pull one that’s scheduled off of a vehicle in or near Assembly. So if your part is out of stock in the supply chain, it might be waiting for an unallocated one to arrive. No one but Mercedes really knows how they “rush” an out of stock item and prioritize allocations at that point. If there are several vehicles with the same issue it might take longer.

Don’t forget there is a global computer chip shortage, this does not help speed matters at all.

Gl drivers part was 167-900-48-19 (Control Unit, Complete).

Wonder if the part numbers are different per feature set installed?

When did you first notice the problem?, when did you take your vehicle to dealer for the first time?, I went 03/15 and part will not be here until middle of May.

Car has been there for 5 days, They called and told me that the hard drive has to be replaced and not the part will be there the very next day yesterday I got a call back and they said the part is coming from Germany and it’s going to take longer than they thought but they are still saying it’s only a hard drive replacement does anyone have a similar part number for just a hard drive replacement

Mine was a hard drive failure as well. Hard drives were not available so my tech ordered the main control unit. There were less than 5 available. I did notice the outgoing control unit that was originally in the car had a manufacture date of December 2020 and the new part was dated August 2020. Hope that’s not a bad sign...
