I hate to say but I don't think Mercedes Benz, dealerships, or sale people care. I used to swap out cars pretty often but lately the thought of dealing with the industry has quelled my desire.

It looks like my guess about Emissions might be closer to the truth than the Supply Chain. Why just the US production? Why accepted orders yet continue to supply the V8 to other Countries?
Here’s a recent comment from Car and Driver about leaked info….

Report Suggests Mercedes Is Pulling Most V-8s out of U.S. for 2022

The problem is reportedly supply-chain related, though a purported leaked document also seems to reference changing global emissions regulations.

I found that the 3 pin plug on the dual mode exhaust on the 21 580 has 12v on red, ground on brown, and data in the middle (green) wire. 12 volts comes on in ignition 1 and data flows for about 1 to 2 seconds then 12 volts and data go away. On ignition 2 and staring and running 12 volts is constant and data is constant. The data appears to be clocked at 50 micro seconds and it’s about 9 volts to ground. Can’t decipher the data, don’t know if it’s sending or receiving from the exhaust, however, I just simply disconnected both actuators and I’m not getting any CE light. Let’s see if anyone else can figure out what it takes to actuate the valves as I tried the AMG emotion start and that didn’t do it.

Good work. To clarify, with the actuators disconnected, does that make it louder?

Yes, just like when you first start it up only now the valves remain open always. The sound IS different and more throaty but not AMG-ish which is nice and I think more sophisticated, being 73.

I’ve been driving for a day and a half with the dual mode exhaust on my 21 580 disconnected. The sound inside the cab with the acoustic comfort package is definitely louder, a deep thundery big engine sound. No popping or backfire sounds when letting off on the gas pedal. I like it but I wish I could turn it on and off from inside the car because sometimes I like it quiet, that’s why I got the acoustic comfort package.

How you disconnect it from the pigtail? I couldn't figure out the grey plastic clip...

Pull the the white tab back with a small pair of pliers about 3/8 of a inch then just pull the black plug out, that’s it. The valve will remain open.

"Back" as in "down" or as in "away from the connector"?

Away from the connector, towards the wires.

Just received my GLE580 yesterday which I ordered in mid May. It's a beauty. Only option that they omitted was the augmented nav. The dealer tacked on a $15K scarcity surcharge. This was quite surprising for a pre-ordered vehicle. Any other experiences or did I get )#($*#

Unless you agreed on a price when you placed your order, the dealer can do just that unfortunately and is definitely bad business. Did you attempt to refuse the purchase once it arrived? I would have told them to keep it.

Ouch on the “market scarcity” fee. I ordered my GLE450 in April and they told me for my vehicle there was no up charge (even took the discount) but anything on the floor had 10k-15k added to it.

They got me. I needed a car right away and nothing available compared. Living in Southern Californa at least we have a number to dealers to chose from. In the future, this one will no longer receive any more of my and many others business. I find it quite short sighted of them.

Name the dealer. Go on as many sites a possible to let people know what kind of dealer this is. He deserves some publicity.. I guess I should be thankful I got my 21 GLE as ordered Aug , 2020. amd at the agreed price.

I just saw a dealer in Thousand Oaks in Southern California get a new 580. They had it marked up by 10K. I'm guessing there is some room for negotiation, but not sure how much.

I’m fine if there’s an added cost for dealer in-stock vehicles but for one that was ordered in May? I think that’s advantageous.

I ended up buying a 2021 GLE 580 from their sister dealer in Foothill Ranch. The experience for me was night/day. Russ Ellis helped me with a trade-in AND relocating the exact 580 I wanted from a dealer in LA. MBFR is a "Costco Dealer" as well, so that helped set expectations for both parties.

I receive no kickback for sharing this information. Only hope this helps others find joy in locating their unicorn.

Would you be able to post a picture or description where or what I’m disconnecting?
