2024 GMC Canyon Denali..... 2018 Audi SQ5
Well I disconnected both of the valves in the muffler yesterday and drove fine for me first part of the day. My wife ended up taking it out on her own and I got a call from her later that day saying the check engine light is on and its shaking (misfire) and proceeded to yell at me saying "Quit modifying the car!"
Guess I didn't get as lucky as some of you.
Shame because I for sure heard a difference with them unplugged. I am starting to wonder if her leaving it in comfort mode instead of sport mode had anything to do with it. Wild that just a little exhaust valve will do that.

Its a bummer as there isnt much info here on general ownership or any one who have driven more than say 30k miles. I have placed my order with all bells and whistles but I am still contemplating if I am making the right choice as this version of GLE is expected to give only 17 mpg. Any recommendation on executive napa? or 3rd row seat?
Have had our GLE580 for 3 years and are a bit over 30K miles. I don't calculate mileage, tending to rely on the cars display. We get 17 in town, and usually 22 to 24 on the highway. It's just the two of us (my wife and myself) so no need for the 3rd row. Probably the only regret I have is that when we ordered (580's were not generally on the lot) was in the 'computer chip' scarcity, so were unable to get the massaging seats. The 'normal' seats are OK, but the feel of the massage seats in the showroom was much more comfortable. Didn't get any other 'bells and whistles' except for the insulated/noise reducing glass package. Considering ordering one for next year, as we are concerned about the US regulations forcing things into the vehicles in coming years. We're pretty old, so hoping a 2025 will last us. No regrets, though, on our choice.

I'd get nappa over mbtex. I'm renting a GLS 450 with mbtex and it's not wearing well. My nappa looks great still and I don't do any treatment to it, my car lives in a garage and I use a sunshade whenever I can plus I have the acoustic IR glass. I have 35k on my 580 with E-ABC and it's still driving fine. A friend of mine has one too with E-ABC as well and he has 70k with no major issues. We both bought ext warranties though just in case.

2025 GLS 580 / 24 GMC Duramax Denali / 23 Bronco Wildtrak
I have had GLS580's and the lack of children that ride with us any longer coupled with the lack of an all season for the GLS580 has got me rethinking a GLE580 where i can still get 21" all seasons. Does anyone have ride comparison opinions from a new GLE to a GLS details? I expect the longer GLS to ride better, but since both are on air suspension not sure there is much of a difference? Our GLS580's were the best riding rig we ever had...
-Thanks for any feedback.

@nova99 I can’t compare the two directly but the 580 is a smooth highway rocket…………when it works. Again on the highway, it was probably the smoothest nicest car/SUV I’ve owned. We just didn’t think it worked well around town in stop and go traffic. So it’s gone!
Good luck.

We bought a 2024 GLE580 on 1/31/2025, and it's the wife's DD, and her only compliant so far is "It sucks gas". BUT she has also driven some MB CLA 250 loaners, (no bash meant towards CLA 250 owners) and she definitely missed the "Get up and go" of her 580. So far so good, she just has a smile on her face whenever she gets in it!

4MATIC is a fixed torque distribution all wheel drive system
4MATIC+ is the newer gen all wheel drive system mostly for amg models, it can send 100% power to the rear wheels (if equipped with the right options, like for example some MBs require the track or driver's package).

To put it very simple:

Actually, the basic 4matic system on the GLE models can now vary the power sent to the rear wheels also (up to 100%). The 4matic + is the AMG version and I believe it has a more advanced transfer case than the basic version.

We are on our 10th MB, all but 2 SUV's. We just traded our 2018 GLE350 for a 2020 GLE580. I think it has every option. Original MSRP was 98k. We paid after trade 27000. We did also purchase extended warranty, which we have never done before, but then at 76 years old, this may be our last car purchase.

Thoughts?
I'm headed home to FL after being out of the USA for 8 weeks, look forward to riding in the 580, (I can't drive when I 1st get back to the USA with my wife in the truck, because of the aggressive driving habits I develop while driving over seas) LOL! I do plan on taking the 580 to the MB dealer for it's 1st oil change, and since 580 will spend it's life in FL, I thinking that oil viscosity I want is the 299.5, (5-40WT).
Thoughts?

I am sure you made a typo but just in case and to clarify, it is 229.5 not 299.5 https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/owne...lling-quantity

Yep, 229.5 is what I meant to type... It's like 65Deg. F in the facility I work in so it's harder to type later in the day..
Thanks!
