A little bit of shiny Ceramic Pro

So I bit the bullet and since I bought car did the gold ceramic pro package exterior 4 coat and interior. It does look awesome but we’ll see over time. Detailer was hyper professional and quick and really cool. Did I say body and wheels looked amazing? 😊😊

We have the same on our GLE, and I had it on a previous car, I love the stuff. I like it better than the C Quartz Finest Reserve I had on my 911. Water flies off the hood when driving in the rain, it explains the self cleaning aspect.

Hi, thanks. Funny you mention that as the detailer said that if the car get kind of dirty and it rains, it kind washes it all off. Happy to keep my GLE all shiny and happy. Now maybe I need to cover some of that chrome 😉

Looks amazing! May I ask approximately how much the detailer charged you for that? Getting my new GLE next week and thinking about having this done.

If you don't mind sharing the pricing, and your location, that will be great. Here in the PNW there's one local detailer that uses Ceramic Pro and pricing is a bit up there.

Grrrr I hate to see Daso’s Selenite 450!! Mine has an ETA of July 20, so just around five months from order IF it comes in on time.

Looking good though, in any case!

I did the same application on our GLE 450 Ceramic Pro Gold / Life time...well worth it after a year already
Seems like new and beads every time washed.

Yeah ceramic coatings are great. I applied 2 coatings of cquartz ... (I did my Lexus 2urs ago) and this stuff makes life so easy. While I like using a DA to apply wax and sealants, it's becoming almost irrelevant as ceramic coatings are more durable and have significantly longer lifespans. Washing is so much easier as the dirt doesn't tend to become as impeded (although I find still needing to use an iron dissolver) from time to time.... Keep up the great shine

Nice ride McFancy! looks very familiar Interesting regarding the Iron dissolver, had not thought it would be needed. I believe the shop which did the application did 4 layers of 9H and then a layer of top coat. I bring it in annually for a "touch up" and additional layer as needed. Relatively cheap compared to going to a car wash place. I stopped going once I got the ceramic coating and loaded up on the detailing equipment. Now I love washing the car...ok maybe "love" is a bit strong yet I do enjoy the process.

Car looks great...keep it shiny

Yeah, I actually didn't notice.the micro specs initially....I was cleaning the brake dust off the wheels and painted calipers and just decided to spritz the rocker panel and low and behold the little devil's showed up (the solution causes them to turn purple and then make little runs as they dissolve)... I agree there's no turning back on ceramic coatings

I am curious, once you noticed the purple markings iron residue from the brakes, did you try using a simple shampoo, cleaning and see if the iron just cleaned off the ceramic without having to use the dissolve solution?
I will have to try it myself, now you have me wondering too.
Thanks for the heads up

Sometimes they come off but not generally Claying is often used....but once it's been ceramic coated it's easier to just spritz and rinse...Adams makes a nice product and it's safe on ceramic

I am curious though about the iron deposits...I'll keep you informed.

DManton and McFancy, i assume both of you have night packages and pano roof? i am curious how far does the roof with black go across the SUV? i'm thinking about wrapping the roof but wasn't sure how far it normally goes with pano roof and wrapping the whole thing so it looks like one piece would look good or not.

do you mind taking a picture of the roof or your car for me? reason i ask is i don't have night package nor pano roof option.

If you've done ppf before that may be an idea vs a sticky back vinyl. With whe ppf (soapy water/alcohol tack) it sb easy given the relatively flat surface and ability to slide it around on the soap film...an idea...

So here’s a question I’m having a hard tine finding an answer to. Aside from reputation, how can one really tell if you got 1,2,3 or 4 coats of Ceramic pro? Is there really any noticeable difference once can see in the beginning. Those that have it, do you ever get water spots from rain, pollen and dust on your hood once rain dries and if you give it a good spray for it come off or you need to wipe it down. I’m just curious. Car does look great but I’ve been getting more spotting than I expected. Maybe my expectations are too high as well. Stuff does wipe off easily.

You’ve not far off....anything that lands on the car will show. The key is that the ceramic barrier mitigates it’s ability to adhere ....now having said that we need to be reasonable realizing that it’s not meant to be impervious. If water droplets do dry on the vehicle they will show water spots just because that’s the residue....if bird poop is allowed to dry and linger, the acids etc will have a reaction. It’s not bullet proof. I tend to think of it as a way of not having to wax/sealant every 4 mo or so....I’ve heard conflicting things about multi coats. One school is that since it mitigates other things from binding to it, then another coat will simply wipe off. But the key is that if the 2nd coat is applied within usually 1 hr, it can still actively bind into the first coat. Think of it as a microscopic coat of clear coat nail polish that can last a year or so....there are a gazillion threads on this stuff. Once the light dirt has been washed off with a ph balanced soap, then the final rise should bead nicely....

Thanks, this all makes sense. At some point I became a bit skeptical of the work done. Two cars done and one feels very slick when you run hand across body while other almost feels a bit squeaky. A strong rain after doesn’t wash off any spots that are dry or pollen rings. Thanks for explanation

Yuppa agree with all above....sorry for delays,,the pano roof goes all the way back and looks great with the night package on mine...

As for the number of coats, I didn't hesitate to go with the lifetime 4+1 top coat for the simple reason is when I amortize the costs over the lifetime of owning the car it was such a small amount vs the amount I paid for car washing service. Feels like more coats translated to a more bullet proof coat for protection. That being said, I have a Panamera I am thinking of getting the ceramic coating on, which for that car I prob will not do the lifetime as I dont use thee car that much and not sure how long I will keep it..all about value I guess
