Exclamation Slow Oil Leak

Hello MBWorld peeps. Today I noticed that my GLE350 is leaking oil! Luckily not a lot but I scheduled it for service tomorrow morning for them to check it out. Has anyone else experienced leaking oil in their new GLE at all? Mine only has 1400 miles so far and the oil level inside says it's at the max as of 5 minutes ago. Also, the leak appears to be coming from the center of the hood, maybe slightly towards the drivers side. Anyone have any idea what could be leaking from that spot (pic is from backing the car straight out)?

Also I am having them check out the 2 tone beep that keeps occurring (that issue is in another thread), random headlight being on that one time (in another thread), any and all available updates, and I am seeing if they can "turn on" the active curve headlights to enable the cornering lights (like when you put the blinker on or turn the steering wheel in a certain direction).

As discussed in this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/gle-class...ed-issues.html the cornering lights do not even exist in the US Multibeam housings, so cannot be activated.

@makris0000 Please post the dealer comments or service invoice if the dealer does anything with the oil leak.

That really blows. When I ordered my GLE that was the main reason I wanted the lighting package and it showed it on my build sheet that it had the cornering lights.

I’ll keep y’all updated. It should be covered under warranty because it’s a brand new SUV. If the dealership tries to charge me to fix it I will 100% not be a happy camper.

makris - they will undoubtedly take care of it under warranty - should be something fairly simple in a brand new vehicle. also, you should get some mild "cornering light" effect from the multibeam LED lights. I see it when I turn the steering wheel in very dark parking lots - this functionality is nowhere near the active curve functionality in other countries, but it is handy for low speed maneuvers in tight spots in the dark. best of luck getting the oil leak fixed.

A gaggle of MB's
If you got the added Intelligent Headlight Option - you might email Vladimir/Belarus to see if the added functions can be "Unlocked" with a OBD module.

Vladimir was able to do this for W166 (prior Gen) with "ILS" - with your VIN# Vladimir can tell you either: "Can-Do-It-Know" - or "Working-On-It-Will-Be-Able-To-Do-It-Later" - or "It-Cant-Be-Done" (and without ILS - standard LED Headlights the answer is "No-Never-Can-Be-Done").

I hope they don't try to say I scrapped something or some nonsense but I doubt they'll do that to me. On mine I do not get any kind of cornering light effect from the Multibeam headlights (I tried multiple ways to get it to work, turning the steering wheel, blinkers, etc.). I know its not like the Euro spec lights but it is better than nothing and it will help with turning at night.

I was thinking of doing that but I don't want to spend the extra $400 just to activate the full functionality of the lights if it is available (I don't know if he still charges $400 for the thing to unlock the features).

Also I will keep y'all updated. I have been getting multiple Mercedes Me Connect notifications today that my car is unlocked so it looks like they are working on it today.

I just got my GLE back. They were not able to find any leaks and they said the bottom was bone dry. For the lights they said it was working as it should. Kind of a shame because the "active bending" is very subtle and almost unnoticeable and there is no cornering lights. Oh well. For the two-tone beep they turned some setting off. I was not able to ask my service advisor what setting it was because he was not there when I picked up the GLE.

"Everything is normal"
"Didn't find a problem"

These are rote answers from MB service departments. Keep us updated as to whether or not you have additional leaks.

I had to badger my service manager multiple times on three separate oil leaks on an engine with a long production history, fully maintained to MB specs, within the factory warranty period. It was only when I caught him in a lie, that one leak was repaired. Why should a customer have to catch someone in a lie to get the right thing done?

MB, their dealers, or both, don't stand behind the product.

Yeah if I notice it again I’ll bring it back. My GLE is a lease so in 34 months it’s 95% going back at the end. But everything should be covered under warranty so worst case if it comes up or if theres damage I started the paper trail for it to be covered.
